Also a story in the Times Transcript quotes IHOP confirming a Moncton location and, of particular note, says they won't confirm a location but they "are working closely with the Corey Craig Group."
While that lends weight to the speculation of the Hyatt for their location, it is also important to note that in recent years Corey Craig Group has gotten into the construction and development biz in a huge way.

Here's the link to the T&T article confirming IHOP.

https://www.telegraphjournal.com/telegraph-journal/story/100832541?source=daily-digest (paywall)

You're quite right that IHOP's confirmation that they are working with the Corey Craig Group may be a strong indication that they will indeed be locating in the new Hyatt Place Hotel, but as you also noted, Corey Craig is now involved in all manners of property development, and as such, this admission is not a "smoking —".

Also this quote from the article is very interesting:

Quote:
"IHOP is coming to Moncton. We are in the very early stages of planning right now," said Hoffman. "We expect to be open in Moncton in late 2019, which will be the perfect way to celebrate IHOP’s 50th year in Canada."
The new Hyatt Place Hotel is not scheduled to open until early 2020. If so, then the fact that IHOP plans to open in late 2019 may indicate that IHOP will be opening someplace else in the city like the Granite Centre.

Lots of interesting speculation coming in the next few months. We are overdue for an announcement from the Granite Centre as to who their first slate of new businesses will be. They had said an announcement was to be made in November. Hopefully there will be some concrete news soon.

The final phase of Champlain Plaza appears to be under construction. This is marked as "future development" on the site plan below. There is now fencing and a trailer on site next to Skyzone.

It looks strange to me to have both Telus, and Koodo in the same Unit. But I do like the fact they got a tenant to fill that space.

The Giant Tiger that took over the old Dolarama, and Hallway in the Main Street Superstore complex was rumored to go here. I'm guessing it was bad timing, and probably issues with lease, and pricing. I wonder what is going to fill these 2 units. I doubt they would build em without having tenants already in place.

Additional info - apparently people in the know have identified the occupant of this expansion as being Ren's Pets, an Ontario based pet supply company. All their current stores are in Ontario. This will be their first foray to the east.

https://www.renspets.com

Apparently it will be 7600 sq ft.

Here's an image of their location in Whitby ON.

I imagine it'll be a bit like Pets Unlimited was. Amazing the number of pet stores in the area.........

It's interesting how many announcements that have been made for Moncton recently which are "first to market." We're getting a lot of stuff before even Halifax..........

The former location, next to Mark's Work Wearhouse, was a Telus/Koodo store as well, although the signs were separate.

Telus owns koodo as well, so it’s smart on their part to have them together.

For that I had just seen the separate signs, and assumed they had just divided the unit into 2 separate spaces.

That I was aware of. I always think it shady business when a Company essentially own one, or more of it's competitors. I will say the same for Bell, and Rogers if I'm not mistaken they own a few companies themselves.

Both Hyba and Stitch It are now officially closed at CF Champlain.

The Hyba closure was first announced ages ago, so this is no surprise. The entire chain is gone. The merchandise however is still available at Reitmans

A little shady I suppose, but I don't think they're intended to be direct competitors to one another per se. Each carrier is targeting a specific clientele, with Telus standing as the traditional contract option and Koodo as the low-cost alternative payment structure option.

I get kind of a Superstore / No Frills vibe from it. Same ownership, different experience.

I have heard from a reliable source that a new Wendy's is coming to Harrisville blvd. Its exact location is unknown to me for now, but I would assume it's near Highway 2 (Trans-Canada) or near the Fairfield Inn & Kent.

The Shell/Tim Horton's combo in the Caledonia Industrial Park on the NE corner of the TCH/Harrisville Blvd interchange is being expanded into a proper truck stop. The new Wendy's is going in here.

I don't believe it'll be a standalone Wendy's, more a Wendy's kiosk within the truck stop building, like the A&W in the Petro Canada truck stop at Magnetic Hill.
