Both West Jet and Air Canada have set amounts for Pearson. Meaning they pay 1 fee a year and they can land an unlimited amount of planes. The more you land, the cheaper per land actually is. Air Canada's in 2018 was over 60% off of posted rates.

Cost of landing isn't a factor at Pearson for AC and WJ.

Any idea when the airport releases passenger traffic for 2018? I'm curious to see how much we added and how it compares to the rest of Canada. Hoping we can hit that 1 million passenger mark soon!

It was released on January 23 last year. I’d expect it in the next couple weeks.

Terminal Update - January 19

In picture 1, Swoop, Air Canada, and Westjet have full-time check-in desks. Air Transat and Sunwing alternate using the far left desks. I anticipate the desks to the far left will be used by Norwegian.

In picture 2, You can see the airport authority has begun its campaign to raise awareness of the new flights to Dublin. The airport and Norwegian have also started advertising online on social media platforms.

I am also anticipating swoop to make an announcement within the next couple of weeks regarding new routes and winter extensions (Florida/Vegas?). Wouldnt be surprised to maybe see Moncton return.

I assume the airport is preparing for terminal construction based on their Tweet , which states: "Great tour of the construction work happening at the new @terminalBLGA and best practices learning from our @VantageAirportG teammates. #HamOnt #NewYork"

So just buying the blueprints of BLGA and tender it out as the new north terminal.... Wonder what the airport improve fee would be per passenger?

YHM touring with the building contractors of the new terminal at Laguardia. Sorry a bit of sarcasm , sure they would be better checking out perhaps less ambitious builds.

Agree. We don't need a megapolis airport like LGA.

We could use a mid-size European airport. Look at WRO (Wroclaw) in Poland, it is a moddest size airport that can carry 30-40 daily flights. Nice small airport with a modern look. Something around this size would be ideal for Hamilton.

Canada Jetlines Reaches Agreements with Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Cancun Airports.

Canada Jetlines Ltd. is pleased to announce it intends to provide future service to several sun destinations in Mexico including Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Cancun.

Jetlines has reached agreements with both Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (NYSE: PAC) (“GAP”) to provide future service to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) as well as Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (NYSE: ASR) (“ASUR”) to provide future service to the Cancun International Airport (CUN). Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Cancun are some of Mexico’s top tourism destinations for Canadians with nearly two million passengers travelling from Canada down to Mexico every year, with the numbers continually rising.

CEO Javier Suarez commented, “We are thrilled to announce future service to these airports. I have worked in this market extensively and have a deep understanding of how to operate successful routes in and out of Mexico. We look forward to providing Canadians with ultra-low fares for their vacation plans. With the money saved, Canadians will have the ability to spend more at their destinations; staying longer or in nicer resorts with their friends and family members. Our low fares will also encourage Mexicans to visit beautiful Canada.”
They still show Hamilton as their main hub.

I've said many times before, in all seriousness, that I'd happily accept a facsimile of Thunder Bay International Airport.

Subway platforms too. I've seen ads for them on the fairly new video screens at Union TTC station, the ones mounted on the walls across the tracks from the platform.

I would like to see an airport built like Grand Rapids Michigan or Savannah/Hilton Head Airport. Both started smaller but where designed for easy expansion. They both now handle around 2.8 million passengers. I have been to both more than once and they are both very easy and friendly airports.

Thunder Bay may not be big enough as they are handling close to 900,000 passengers now and are doing some expansion.

Laguardia airport is operated by Vantage Airport Group. Vantage manages TradePort, the operators of YHM.
Vantage was formally YVR Airport Services, who were one of a few shareholders in the consortium TradePort, who formed specifically to operate YHM.
Vantage are now the sole shareholder in TradePort (unless something has changed).

London picking up 20 weekly flights. YEG got service to Oakland and Orlando, and YWG picked up YLW.

Let's see how Flair does their 2019 summer schedule. Its expected to come out within the next two weeks. Based on how their current core schedule is set up (Hub-Spoke in YEG), it looks like they are looking into two new Ontario Markets. Ottawa is a strong rumour and I wouldn't be surprised to see Windsor or K/W get service from Flair to YEG. Who knows, maybe they will bring back seasonal service to Hamilton?
