Those are the census numbers. The City of Ottawa calculates population differently. The city's population numbers are always higher than the census.

Not sure what the context around this is ... (new render/old render?) but here's a render that was made for 390 Bank Street (the James Street Pub). No idea whether the building is currently up for redevelopment.

The operator is Katasa Developments - anyone know them? The teaser rendering is playing interestingly with the ugly building - the use of large murals (or are those digital billboards?) will definitely liven up that corner. They must, must, must reactivate the retail at grade, though.
Katasa is a family run development company based in Gatineau I believe. The family has other relatives also active in development in Ottawa and Gatineau. They own a number of retirement homes.

On my Linkedin feed they were looking for a planner/development type role a few months ago...

With office-building ceiling heights, they might be able to do some interesting things to maximize the space, e.g., setting up units with loft beds and double-height closets with the pull-down rods.

Looks like it is now up for sale...anyone have $8,000,000?

finally, an airport hotel.

I work in government, and a lot of people who come from out of town to meet us are going to be very happy.

Its opening in 2020 supposedly, which puts it ahead of light rail and therefore it should do good business as soon as it opens. Once light rail is open the only other hotel directly on the Trillium line would be the one at walkley/anand.

With light rail and a top notch airport hotel our little airport is going to be one of the best little airports in the world. In fact, it's already won a best airport in the world 2-5 million passengers award in 2010.

I understand we'll be competing in the "middle size" airport segment now for 5M+ PAX. A challenge that the Airport Authority looks eager to prove itself in, and hopefully opening up some new international and cross-border flights to YOW.

I think we need to empower the Airport Authority to more aggressively seek additional destinations and frequencies, potentially with economic development money.

In my opinion, the two key priorities should be:
1) direct service to SFO, to bolster the tech industry and expand access to venture capital for Ottawa firms
2) making the FRA flight year-round, for better global connectivity (FRA being one of the most significant hubs in the entire world). With Brexit coming around, this flight will soon be our sole EU connection.

There was one at one time at the height of the tech boom. I guess there wasn't enough demand, which makes you wonder about the near future, since the high tech has not rebounded to peak levels yet.
