I watched the video on his website. Unfortunately, there is no test track for what he is trying to accomplish, so I think this is all 'theoretical'. I'm not an engineer, but what I do know is it will be difficult to build in many of the safety systems we take for granted with traditional transit. He claimed this would be over '1000 times' more safe than cars on the road, however, there is no crumple zones or any barrier that would protect passengers if the pods crashed into each other. They hang from the guide track, however, what will prevent heavy winds from blowing the pods from side to side, making traveling uncomfortable? If the wheels are small and round, what will allow the wheels to have enough surface area to allow the pods to stop and accelerate quickly without loosing traction. He claimed that the 'whole system would be powered by solar panels', however, it would be difficult to power one pod with a whole array of solar panels, due to the limited amperage they can produce. He claimed these would travel at high speeds- how would the pods remain stable and not sway back and forth in corners? How would people escape the pods if there were a mechanical breakdown, and a whole group of pods queued up without a station nearby?
Heavy rail has a much higher capacity than this technology to transport people, however, strict safety standards limit this capacity by stipulating that trains cannot travel right behind each other. There is also a concept known as 'queuing theory' that limits the number of individuals that can travel at different speeds (e.g. stopped to board train and traveling speed) on the same guide way that this seems to ignore. I don't see how this is remotely possible outside of some guandala (sp?) type system that is seen at ski resorts.
