You're right.

I should have checked your list beforehand, but I guess such is the state of developers not listing their towers' heights that I automatically assumed they wouldn't be a published height.

So this basically means that this tower will in fact be officially the tallest on the Beresford tower row, (pending the completion and listing of the heights of the Sun Towers #1)

I imagine Station Square Tower #5 (when complete) and obviously Concord Sears towers will be much taller whenever that one is ever constructed.

Drove by and noticed a few excavators on the Polaris site. A few days ago there were these blue and orange boxes, but today the orange boxes were outside the site on the sidewalk, making a shelter for the sidewalk when construction starts, which I imagine will be about now. Construction is finally about to start!

Station Square #5 is 172 meters. There are heights for the other Station Square towers but I am not sure if they are still correct (if they are the current or previous designs).

Very nice. I only wish the rental tower would be twice as tall. Seems like waste of prime real estate in current form.

Thanks for the clarification. I was wondering how it was possible that the Thind project was so far along already.

You're right about that.
I noticed it too.

They seem to be more excavators on the site now than the single one they had before and they also seem to ramping up to start building the pedestrian walkway covers on Nelson and Imperial streets.

They will probably be starting excavation proper in the next couple of weeks - most likely the first or second week of January next year.

I also noticed that their Sales center on Imperial street is closed down, so I guess they sold out all the units.
Which in a weird way is both surprising to me (given the current condo market and real estate climate) and also NOT surprising at the same time.

Does anyone know what the development west of the Legacy Towers are? All it says is “Urban One Builders” on the orange signs.

7000 Lougheed Hwy Burnaby

The 7000 Lougheed site is 14 acres, and with the low-medium density urban village designation, at approximately $10 milion per acre, it should go for $140mil-$170mil, sure not where the $4.5 mil is showing up .

Will be interesting to see what scale of density is achieved on the Saputo site as it basically straddles the Sperling-Burnaby Lake Skytrain. Hope the new Major doesn't screw this one up with short sighted rezoning. There are limited large parcels of land remaining that can accommodate significant visionary projects.

The interesting thing will be whether Burnaby allows a high density on the Saputo (and adjacent) site because it is not in a "Town Centre".
It could lead to a slippery slope (to high density residential), but there aren't many SkyTrain stations in Burnaby that are not in the four Burnaby Town Centres.

Lake City and Production Way are squarely "light industrial/business park" sites so little chance of those changing to residential.
Saputo is also industrial but more isolated, although there are industrial sites down along Winston.

Royal Oak is the only other one that comes to mind.

Vancouver has been about 'opportunistic' consolidation and zoning - Burnaby has not. Considering most of council is the same as before, I don't expect that to change.

The west side of Royal Oak from Dover to Imperial is the edge of the Metrotown town centre plan, so that strip could see some taller buildings. The east side of Royal Oak and south of the Skytrain would be limited to a few floors.

Exactly.
I'm hoping that Burnaby sticks to the plan and doesn't cater to the developers (too much).

I actually think a medium density development, something similar to the proposal in North Van for the Maplewood area would be great. Kind of a village concept if you will.

Though I'm not sure how expensive the units in said village will have to be to justify 200 million for land, let alone build costs.

Now that you mention it, I think my memory is failing me. You're right, $4.5 million is definitelty not it. . I think I probably saw the "14 Acres" and somehow thought that it was the price lol. I'm getting old.

Just because they get assessed at that does that mean they are forced to charge them at those tax rates? It seems like shooting yourself in the foot, losing businesses which in this economy are probably just going to sit empty for years like a lot of Robson Street is.
