Personally I like a more transparent look, as mentioned earlier, reflective glazing can be somewhat of a cop-out and can looks really 80's IMO.

I think the purpose here was to bring the tower more up-to-date and the transparency achieves this very well.
See the reclad of the Hanwha building in Seoul: far more superior. No clear glass to boot: not even close to the 80's.

It actually looks quite nice from ground level! I can say that I'm definitely warming up to the design a little more as it progresses further. It's always unfortunate to lose a dark tower in a white cluster, but this looks nice. The night lighting feature is by far my favourite part of this.

The reclad looks alright, but that Japanese example looks terrible (Though I do love that warm kind of Po-mo design) just by the cladding alone.

it's Korean.

It's looking ok as more of it is changed.

Side note, Granville street looks really busy.

I personally think it looks much better in person than the photographs depict, the details on the spandrel in particular look great.

Also it looks better on a cloudy day than a sunny day, the glass looks much more like the smoky blue hue that was chosen in lower light situations.

The south (and north?) facades look good from a shallow angle because the fins stand out.
The east and west facades do not have the fins, so look plainer.

It'll probably be covered up when Holborn redevelops the Bay Parkade site.
It owns the buildings surrounding the Cavelti Building.

Thanks for the pics.

BTW - the lights look great driving over Granville Bridge.
I noticed them in my rearview mirror heading south.

I assume that they are not colour changing?
We've only seen them white - would be nice to see them in Christams green and red.

Definitely looks better on a cloudy day, and the crown lighting is definitely appreciated.

That said I do hope that darker colours are used for the eventual Scotia Tower / TD Tower reclads. (A similar black would be best for the two TD Towers, seeing how they are the only major buildings with such an aesthetic in the city core).

I was walking up Georgia and noticed the lighting. It makes it look sharp. Why is it just on the south side?

Perhaps residents at the Hudson & Residence at Georgia would cry foul if beautiful white ligting starts to appear on their sides. I believe the north side has the lighting too, no?

good pic. the white lighting and white signage don't seem to work too well together.
