There's a large crane putting up massive Avenir signing today above the entrance . I was wondering when that would go up as its been in all the renders.

Should really give the arena a completed look on the exterior.

There's infrastructure in the building just behind where the sign is going for power to an illuminated sign so I would assume.. It's also in the renders illuminated.

I anticipate the number will easily grow over 5000..maybe even 5500 by the end of the season.

Both timbit games on Jan 26th & 27th likely draw over 7000 and possibly sell out.

The last game of the regular season also should sell out, with everyone using all their remaining flex tickets.

Also curious how the first family day game does in February.

Signage is still going up. Right now it says NIR Centre.

BTW the lettering for Avenir is friggin' huge!!!

So I've secured tickets to a Wildcats game next week at the Avenir Centre, and am looking forward to checking out the new facility.

I intend to report back on my impressions of the arena after our trip to Moncton is done. I'll also be going to a Sea Dogs home game this coming weekend so the Harbour Station experience is fresh in my mind.

Any tips on getting through security smoothly/what to expect?

Arrive about 30 minutes before game time. When you approach security, already have your pockets empty. All you need to do is hold your wallet, cell phone and keys in your hands and away from your body. They'll then scan your torso with their wand and you're good to go.

They have to process a lot of people quickly, so the search isn't too thorough. They tend to worry more about bulky handbags. Back packs are not allowed.

I find the best place to park is on St George. If you arrive 30-45 minutes early theres almost always street spots there & its only a 5-10 min walk to the centre. You get a more urban experience doing it this way. Sometimes you can even find a spot right on highfield.

I've parked behind the Capitol before. $3 for the night. Five minute walk. Lots of room but I tend to arrive an hour before the game so it might be crowded there when it gets closer to game time.
Last game that I attended, I chose the longest line to get through security on purpose. I wanted to see how long it would take. It didn't take long at all! When I got to the front, I had all kinds of needless shit in my pockets. DOn't bring stuff you won't need. I ended up being "that guy" who held up the line because he had pockets full of keys, candies, a few nuts and bolts from a project earlier in the day, random receipts and cards, etc... etc... I was embarrassed. People behind me were rolling their eyes. Rightfully so. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the advice guys! We'll be staying at a downtown hotel, so I won't be experiencing/reporting on having to find parking for the game. I've noted your security hints, particularly the one to get all the unessential crap out of my pockets before leaving for the arena (and I'll make sure my fiancee is prepared too). Can't wait!

Quick question I have seats for the game on the 31st. They are SCLUB level from my employer. Is there parking for people with those tickets or am I in the same boat as the general public?

And if you're bringing your 80 year old dad, who has nail clippers on his key chain, to a game, make sure he leaves it home. Security will not allow nail clippers in the centre. I know from experience. Crazy, I know!

The world seems to get at least slightly stupider every year. 2018 has been a particularly bountiful year in that department.

Signage installation continues.

It now says "----- AVENIR centre".

I would've taken a picture today but it's so damned foggy out you can't see a thing!!!

No special parking for club seat holders, sorry.

The Wildcats do have some reserved parking for some of their season ticket holders, but those are reserved and cost $240/yr or so.
