Bickley isn't much better than Roberts in terms of making things up.

At least Gambo, as insufferable as he is, is basically a mouthpiece for Sarver and is somewhat reliable.

No matter how bad a owner Sarver is, it needs to get done. It's good for the city, the Suns, the fans and even non sports fans. If they built brand new arenas in Sacramento and Milwakee and even Orando not too long ago, there is no reason why we can't renovate ours. We know it would be much more to built a new arena that we can put off a bout 20 years. Seems like a great investment in the city or would you all rather have an abandoned arena with we no major league team next to our brand new Frys and struggling bars around the arena cause they start losing out on the 15000 plus fans downtown for 41+ nights a year. I guarantee, The Park, Hard Rock, Willy Taco Joint, Coaches Corner, and in would be a sad day if Majerles closed. Phoenix without the Suns is like Ham with no burger. I feel like this wouldn't even be a question if we were good right now, but we cant let the fact they aren't playing well effect this decision. LeBron James was basically the sole reason for the emergence in Clevelands downtown. We will be back, yeah hopefully Sarver sells some day but at least we can say we made sure the team stayed here. And to reiterate someone else's point, it's hotel and rental car taxes, why would anyone care about that this much. Damn, I had a stay cation and had to pay an extra 5 dollars in tax so the Suns could stay here, damn this gonna change my life. Stupid, how can people be so dumb.

If the Suns go, we can always get an axe throwing team. Interesting concept for warehouse district.

The Suns bring people Downtown. Say what you will, but Cityscape during a Suns game is 3 times busier than when there isn't a game. Yes, we all know the Suns are not a necessity for Downtown, but they would make a hell of a dent if they were not here any longer. They may be a bad team now with a bad owner with a bad record. But so what? I seem to recall the Indians being the worst baseball team in history for nearly 33 years. So bad, movies were made about them being so bad. Cleveland was ready to give them up. They rebuilt the franchise and now are one of the winningest teams in baseball. The city went nuts when they made it to the World Series...I was there. My point is so what if a team sucks? All teams in any sport go through this. It doesn't last forever. This is Phoenix's team and this city needs to respect that. Sarver will also not own this team forever. It would really not be good thing for them to leave over a renovation deal...which is not a bad deal at all...and then in 15 years, another owner comes along and gets them a championship. How much would that sting the City of Phoenix? Probably quite a bit I'm sure.

The Suns picking up and leaving is a tall order. Keep in mind:

1) NBA Board of Governors (fancy term for the NBA owners) have to approve any team relocation
2) The city can, and would, file a lawsuit against the Suns to keep them in Talking Stick through the end of the entire lease.
3) Starver would have to pay a relocation fee to the NBA, which is distributed to the rest of the teams evenly. This could be anywhere from $100-$250 million ESPECIALLY if the team is relocated to Seattle. There's your renovation money right there.
- Just a frame of reference... The Chargers and Rams have to pay a 645 million dollar relocation fee EACH. Raiders $378 million for Vegas. NFL is a different animal than the NBA, but you get the point.
4) I'd be willing to bet Adam Silver would step in... Phoenix is a b-ball town, we're not talking about the Hornets or something here.

What's most likely to happen, if the renovation deal doesn't get done, is the team will stay in greater Phoenix - but move to another suburb or tribal land.

So on to other things. I drive by the RO2 area this morning and surveyors were working onsite (where the office tower would be across from the street from the Knipe House). Not sure if it's exactly related to the RO2 development, but could be some pre-construction surveying. Does anyone know what the timeframe is supposed to be for RO2 to start? I haven't really seen anything as far as when this development was to start.

Also, took a nifty pic of the Block 23 construction coming from Westbound Jefferson this morning that I thought was a really cool looking view. Thought I would share

People just seem to have a negative association with tax dollars and stadiums. It'd be one thing if the city was shelling out $700+ million for an entirely new arena, but they're not. They're putting in money, that was already earmarked for this purpose, to repair a facility that is in desperate need of a facelift and logistical maintenance if it wants to continue to attract premier artists and shows. Arenas across the country are renovated all the time. This isn't anything new.

If the Colliers building goes up there will be another taller stair step behind Block 23 as well.

I was in town for a couple meetings Tuesday. Snapped a some shots from my room on the 13th floor of the Sheraton, facing north. Construction looks awesome!

PS. Sheraton needs to clean their windows, did the best I could!

I was thinking the same thing if the 2 towers of RO2 get built. Didn't even think of Derby (if it is possibly still in play).

Exactly, Phoenix is not a town the NBA would give up. I think they work this out in the end but Sarver regardless of outcome is a total amateur.

I think the NBA would give up Phoenix but I do not think the board of directors would not do something they feel is disrespectful to Colangelo, someone they are very tight with.

So I was thinking we could have some 14 new skyscrapers go up over the next two years.

1. Central Station
2. Kenect
3. 200 Monroe
4. Hines Tower
5. Link Phase II
6. Link Phase III
7. Aspirant
8. The Barrister Tower
9. Ro2 Office Park
10. The Ro2 Creative Tower
11. The Palm Court Tower.
12. The Marriot Hotel at the Arizona Center
13. The Berger Hotel
14. The Derby (maybe)

All of this construction will happen along with the light rail extension, biomedical campus expansion, completion of Block 23 and Link phase I, the construction of the Fillmore, and many more mid-rise developments. It will be interesting to see what downtown becomes in the next couple of years.

^^ above two posts...

no idea if 14 hi-rises is realistic but would be awesome if so...

Suns...geesh...i dunno...i've been a fan since '87 when KJ and TC (and EJ) came along. haven't cared one whit about this team since 2014 when they (again) failed to make playoffs and then did another dumb move firing Horny. honestly, yeah, would be bad to see Suns leave Phoenix but Sarver has been the kiss of death for this team so maybe it would be okay. some team would move here or NBA would expand as it's not the fans that are the problem...or the arena...it's Sarver. he breeds apathy. end of story. i mean, 4-23??? is that right? f**k that's atrocious. he should be ashamed. deeply.

You are also forgetting 200 w. Monroe which is potentially 2 and Central station has 2 "high rises"

so overall it would be 17 high rises

Rumors of an in-arena protest during tonight's nationally televised game: https://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu...ional-tv-and-i-absolutely-love-this-move

AND the game is on TNT. Sir Charles could have a great night...

Horny wasn't doing a good job. He didn't do a good job in NY either. The problems with the team are deep and mostly due to the owner's meddling but the quality of basketball and the lease/arena are very different topics.

The game tonight is on tnt, makes me wish i could watch at home instead of from the suite.

We won't get 14 new high rises any time soon.
