Perhaps the tractor on the Platinum site is indeed doing something.... As you said , will know shortly. Cranes in massive demand, it won't sit unassembled for long.

I wonder if it's for the Main/Walnut project...Vranich owns King/Queen...makes sense to store the units close to his next project on land he owns.

Exciting to watch Vranich go! At least while nobody else is moving quickly in Hamilton...
Vranich has Walnut and Main, Queen and Market and SE King and Caroline... Anything else? Either way, does anyone have insight about his timelines/ priorities for future construction?

Has anyone here seen the site plans? Are they digging out a parking garage or will that be above ground? Only reason I can think they'd bring a crane in this quickly is if they were not digging too deep.

no more crane activity but all the trees and shrubs on site were cleared out last week, other than some smaller trees along King St. You really see how massive a plot of land this is now.

Do we know how many units are being proposed? I know that it's not all going to be purchased condos (any?) and some of it is going to be a hotel, but I'm curious with Platinum how many people we are looking at in a small area.

Could bring that stretch of King, west of Queen back to life.

I'm not sure of unit number, but am very excited to see this stretch of King come back to life.... current Vranich build will add people, along with his next project proposed next door at King/Caroline. Also, a 15-storey building is proposed on the north side of King at Caroline. TV City is nearby at Caroline and Jackson, and just north at York/Caroline there is a proposal possibly as high as 30 floors. One has to assume that all the parking lots along Bay St from Main to Cannon would follow suit and see development in the next few years as well. Tons of potential along this portion of the LRT corridor.

Outside of the McMaster graduate residence, is there anything proposed for the northwest corner of King/Caroline? I haven't heard anything about that location, except that some believe Vranich will build on it since he owns it.

Pretty sure the York/Caroline proposal was affordable housing dependent on something the province cancelled was it not?

By NW corner are you taking about 216-220 King West with the black awnings? I wouldn't mind seeing that go personally, I hope he does build.

Sorry, I meant the Northwest edge of the lot, the Southeast corner of King/Caroline.

Hadn't had my coffee yet

Thanks, guess this suggests that the crane is for the site it sits on.

From a reliable source, I'm told Darko purchased the crane. It's going up on site and later used on the neighbouring site. Will be needed for up to 10 years, hence the investment.

Makes sense. Cranes are in short supply in the GTA, and the rental rates are quite large. Probably makes better sense for him just to purchase one rather than rent them.

good news...although 10 years. Wow. This is 2 blocks of development, not an entire new city. Lol

I wouldn't mind an entire new city in some aspects.

The hotel at the corner is going to be a total precast structure, so expect it to go up quickly once it starts. This is never good news imo; the supplier, stubbes has only done really bad looking work in Hamilton like 220 cannon, 149 main and the panels at the Connaught.

Fingers crossed this turns out passable.
