I would expect the wristband to be the same.
But how does loading them online work?

Each card is separate on-line (but still associated with your log-in / user profile). So you would add value to each card separately.

Does it update my card on tap?

If my card balance is stored off my card in a secure database, why store value on the card itself?

I don't mean to over-police a thread but shouldn't these kinds of questions be asked to the Compass customer service line?

Am I the only one here that actually likes the Nova's as a rider? Way more comfortable and they don't toss you around like the New Flyer's can.

Fun new news!

http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/north-sho...uver-ambleside-bus-only-lanes-opposition

Quote:
A small group of business owners in the Ambleside area of West Vancouver are making their voice heard today that they do not want road lanes converted into bus-only lanes for the new North Shore B-Line service.
Nigel Malkin, an Ambleside business owner, is leading a rally Saturday morning to oppose TransLink’s proposed plans, which would turn one road lane in each direction into a bus-only lane on Marine Drive.
Quote:
“We will win this thing one way or another. If after the meeting Monday that the district has with TransLink does not get closure to these bus lanes we will continue the fight,” wrote Malkin, adding that he thinks the new rapid bus service should be free, as it will not attract riders.
Quote:
The changes to Marine Drive — one of the most congested arterial routes in West Vancouver — are necessary to create a viable and reliable North Shore B-Line rapid bus service between Dundarave and Phibbs Exchange. This service, along with three other new B-Line routes in the region, is expected to launch by the end of 2019.

Obviously no one saw this coming... Anyone think they'll change it to HOV?

On the other hand, is the B-line up in Surrey going to be changed to a Bus lane?

This fight will set the precedent for 41st Avenue B-Line too.

But here's the thing: Who's gonna take that B-Line if the service is unreliable?

Perhaps a compromise, i.e. HOV lane during rush hours?

Marine Drive doesn't really seem like a super arterial road to me (due to proximity of Upper Level Highway) so I hope that compromise will do for now.

For 96 B-Line, KGB or 104 Avenue?

Marine Drive is very much an arterial road, as it is one of few roads that completely goes from West Van to North Van due to how the streets are laid out in the North Shore, and it's proximity to the Lions Gate Bridge.

The Upper Level Highway is already congested enough with traffic, with people using it instead to get from West Van to North Van and back.

Would it be less disruptive to remove the parking lanes instead, and subsidize new parking in parkades, or underground?

It's okay, all the Ambleside retail is dead they don't need any street parking.

Sure, because a traffic lane is obviously put to so much better use as a car park instead of transporting thousands of people an hour.

Of course the businesses want the benefit of free parking for their clients - but what do the majority of actual road users (including transit riders) want? They're the ones who's needs should be accommodated, IMHO.

Uhh, if you read the actual article, they're converting car lanes to Bus lanes, reducing Marine Drive to 2 lanes at Ambleside. That's the reason why this has become so heated- Marine Drive is already congested.

I wish that more people would understand that you can move more people, per lane, with busses rather than cars. Bus-only lanes reduce congestion...

HAHAHAHAH! Right. Keep telling yourself that.

Watch any city where a public transit union goes on strike, and how all of a sudden much easier it is to commute by vehicle. I distinctly remember this from my own experience years ago in Calgary. Freeing up an entire lane from bus-only transit lanes during rush hour and letting cars use the lanes made a huge improvement for drivers. It was quite the topic of conversation in the office.

But don't let that real world experience sway you. Living in Theoryland must be like a warm, delusional blanket for you.

Yes, but having only one lane each way negates that - anybody turning left or right will stall the entire road, same as 104th in Surrrey. I'd argue that TransLink should replace the parking lanes instead.

Yup, and that's because people finally have the incentive to carpool. During the Great BC Transit Strike of 2001 I carpooled with three of my fellow transit commuters. A lot of my other co-workers were doing the same thing, and I could see that a lot of the other cars were multi-occupant as well.

You can move a lot more people on our streets if you get away from the single-occupancy vehicle disease that infects our cities.

And we haven't had a strike since 2001, so I'd put that worst-case scenario at the bottom of the list between "Big One hits" and "TBM unleashes a Balrog."
