Well to be fair, Casa Loma pre-dates all of the Disney stuff, built 1914.

Built in 1914, but supposed to look like a castle from the 1600's. Umm yeah, it's called faux historical architecture.

Don't you think that if it was in Calgary we'd have seen that by now? Also a naming convention like W 8th street does not fit in with our naming convention.

I worked in Dubai for 2 years, and I would agree with ST1 in many ways. There is some nice architecture there but most of it doesn't appeal to me. Tacky might not be the right word, but the it lacks character, and most of the buildings are over the top or unimaginative clones. Many of the buildings especially the ones built from 2000-2010 are just plain awful. The Burj Al Arab is cool until you see the inside, and then it's like wtf!
The most interesting part of Dubai of the old city.
