Photos probably don’t do enough justic. Standing on the square and looking at the 2 buildings, it feels like they are twice of their current heights. I felt very small standing there...I agree that the fins really made things look even better. The presence and weight are quite heavy.

What are the floor plans for the residence tower 2? I’m imagining something big...I’m curious how much rent per month they will charge (actually I’m kinda happy eventually TNS didn’t get the affordable units....I’m feeling a bit guilty for feeling this way).

Perhaps after the completion of tower 3 and 4 I’ll feel even smaller standing there

Not sure they’ve released any of that yet. The website for the residential portion is 225carlton.ca

Current occupancy can be seen. So the floor plan for residence is not finalized yet? And hmm only 4 floors available...

I’m not sure, or lol they actually rent a whole floor of 9300 sp.ft. at once?

Those are the commercial floors.

First I just want to say I like this project. I like the way it looks and with the next phase the area will look even better. Having said that I can't feel a bit disappointed with this project. It is not visible from too many places and where it is visible it is only slightly so. It really doesn't contribute to the Skyline. I feel like instead of two short buildings it would have been better to build one taller building that was actually visible from different points of the city. Most people I talk to are not even aware this building has gone up. Only people that work downtown close to this area or take the bus on Graham are aware of it.

Given the area, I think it's appropriate as it is. I don't think making it any taller than they are now would make a difference, and overall, would not make sense for the intentions on what True North wanted.

I'd rather have a cluster of four mid-rise buildings around the area, than a gigantic and tall building. Manitoba Hydro Tower covers that part already with its massive floor plates, and 300 Main covers the tallest building aspect when it's completed.

You're entitled to your opinion, but calling it disappointing is a bit of a stretch.

You know what's disappointing? The Fortress development, or lack there-of. That's a whole other thread to discuss, but even then, that's a dead project now, and not worth mentioning anymore.

I hate to be negative but I am just disappointed this project is barely visible from anywhere. Yeah it is unfortunate that the fortress development didn't go through. Hopefully the new year will bring new projects to that area.

I think as long as the Scotiabank logo and Scotiabank Solution stays here the height imperfections can be offset, now our city has every major bank logo. I’d love to see one from HSBC though as they have a location in downtown (btw that glass building it resides in looks gorgeous).

I walked thru the plaza sometime last week.

They need to put some sand or ice melt there because the ground is very slippery.

Not comparing it to any building. I just haven't been able to get a good glimpse of it anywhere. The image you posted is from a very high elevation. Most people don't have access to that type of view.

It's a nice complex, I just wish it had more height and was more visible, that's all.

TNS is in the middle of downtown, not on any major or wide streets. Even if it was 10 stories taller, it probably wouldn't be any more visible unless you're standing near the giant empty lots on Donald.

It's like when you're coming into downtown on Donald via Confusion Corner – you can't see ANYTHING other than 300 Assiniboine and Fort Garry Place.

RBC, TD, Scotiabank are clearly visible.
So, asking...Is BMO on the Newport bldg 330 Portage? It is not on the Bell MTS buildings which once had their name on it?
I am unaware of any CIBC logos atop a hi-rise downtown?

CIBC has locations in Richardson and Cityplace, but no building naming rights. BMO also has no naming rights anymore, aside from the obvious P&M location.

I'd be willing to bet we may see Telus stake claim to a building here now that they have a much larger client base in Manitoba, even if they don't open offices here. Wouldn't be surprised to see them nab some naming right around the city.

I agree with what Luisito is getting at

If the buildings were 10 stories taller, they’d both be taller than Hydro

10 stories would almost double the height of the smaller tower above the podium portion for example and that would be significant

I think 2 towers taller than hydro would certainly make an impact.

No you won’t see them from every angle but you will from certain angles

I like the towers as is myself, but I can certainly understand and even agree with how it’s disappointing they aren’t skyline changers. I think what the poster was getting at is wouldn’t it be nice if all of them were taller, doesn’t need to be “one tall Vs 4 short”
