By the way, our height restrictions and our parking requirements in our TODs are preventing the very thing TODs are supposed to do--foster transit and walkable communities! Austin is desperate for leadership in its Planning Department.

I thought this house was owned by the Guadalupe Neighborhood Development Corporation and leased to a low income family. Also the permit is for 811 E. 9th street but the Lopez house is at 809 and there is no demo/relocation permit for the latter. Not only that but this rehab project was completed just a few years ago. Any addt'l info on this?

Some info on the permit seems to have changed. It is next door to that house and the name is now "La Vista de Lopez". But it's still listed as an apartment complex.

The future is bright for this biking paradise! Thank goodness for the hundred year old grid.

Found out what's going on with 618 Tillery, It's being converted to a 3 story 150k sqft office space that'll be solar powered. Looks neat and goes along with the development moving eastward where ever it can find.

I'll be interested if more pops up near Airport and Springdale. those old oil tank sites (I think that's what they were) have a fair bit of potential. ABP, Springdale General, and Canopy are all that way.

The grid from downtown all the way to 183 is as good as it gets in Austin outside of downtown. It's a bikers' paradise and is more walkable and livable by the day. Hopefully, we'll now work to get a better land development code and help the area house thousands more Austinites. The 804 BRT is set to start there too. Good times!

An update was added to the site plan. The old house is part of the project. It will serve as the amenity center for a connected 7-story apartment building: six levels of apartments and a partially underground parking level. There will be only 24 apartments. So the "tower" will be skinny. It will also be affordable senior living. Details are in the site plan attachment:

Somebody didn't proof read prior to submitting. The first page of the 4819 Gonzales site plan refers to the project as 4910 Easy 7th St in the title.

They're the same project. It spans the whole block between Gonzales Street and East 7th Street. I don't know why they're using two addresses though. I know sometimes the guys that submit these docs don't exactly pay attention to the finer details. I would assume the project would want a 7th Street address since it's the bigger of the two.

A few of those folks at that brand new condo complex aren't going to have much of a view for very long! Glad to see more affordable housing going up in this area though. Those seniors deserve a nice view of downtown.

I took a few pics today of the development going on in the near East-side. The area between I35 and Chicon and 4th and 6th.
