Boss Supplements is apparently opening a store in the Evergreen Plaza on Mountain Road (at Gorge).

Currently locations are only in Ontario.

Apparently the same people who are opening the Eat Clean Healthy Grill in Dieppe.

I could be wrong but i really feel like they are under-building this facility.. this area has a very large concentration of the population of moncton. Also a demographic that would use this facility.. huge amount of kids.. lots of active young adults.. concentrated in this one area of moncton.

Look at the problems they have had with under-building the schools alone..I kinda feel like the roles could almost be reversed.. larger Y in the north end vs downtown.

The lack of swimming pool in order to offer swimming lessons is extremely disappointing.

The proposed facility has a $3M capital campaign associated with it.

I think there would be much greater enthusiasm amongst potential donors if it had been a $5M campaign, for a building with a fully enclosed swimming pool in addition to the "splash pad".

Right now, I imagine potential donors will look at what is proposed for the facility and really question whether or not they actually want to contribute. The city and the YMCA may be shooting themselves in the foot here.......

Agreed. I'd suggest totally replacing the pad with a full pool...the incremental cost can't be that great (since you're already building the full building structure anyway, land, soft costs, none of that changes).

I have toddlers who love splash pads, but really there are two new pads already in the north end. I don't hear anyone complaining about lack of a year-round splash pad....but I do hear a lot of chatter about difficulty getting kids into swimming lessons.

On a predictable note, there will be a vacant storefront on the Evergreen Plaza on Mountain Rd. within a year. Seriously though, how many supplements stores does Moncton need? The supplement store at Mapleton Center should be more than enough to supply this end of town.

We have to go to dieppe for swimming.. and happlily pay the non resident rate for the convience and quality. ( from maghill and yes i am not a city tax payer so my vote doesnt count

) .

But i would happily pay to use the north end center if it had a pool. probralby wont bother without.

I agree. The North End Y needs a pool. A splash pad is pointless.

Here's a better render of the new North End YMCA.

Apparently the building is capable of "doubling in size" (presumably by expanding towards the south, towards Ecole le Sommet) in response to future growth demands. A library was given as an example. Presumably the future addition of a swimming pool is also a possibility.

If that is the lot being referred too it does not seem that big. It might fit another building, and parking like the Moncton Music Center

They wouldn't buy it for parking because they have plenty in the overall parking quantity in that commercial area, but you never know, I mean to buy it for parking they would need to cross the road to any of the other buildings that are already there. Doesn't seem ideal.

There are a lot of culverts stacked up in the area mentioned above. Earlier this week, the intersection by St. Hubert and Rallye motors was torn up and it looks like a culvert was replaced. It may have nothing to do with new construction at all.

The Milestone's rumour has been floating around Moncton for several years, most recently associated with the land adjacent to the new Holiday Inn on Mapleton next to the TCH, but I have a strong suspicion that proposal has fallen through.

Is your boss well placed enough to actually be knowledgeable on whether or not Milestones might locate here instead???

I work for a steel fabricator that has done some work at restaurants in the area. Usually countertops, railings and other finishing touches. We did some stuff for Kelsey's.
