From Park Royal to Downtown? Darn that’s supposed to be 250’s job.

Extending to Chambly wouldn't be nearly as useful as extending the Yellow Line subway on the south shore.

Laval could be transformative along Hwys 440 and 15. What will it do to service frequency along Deux-Montagnes and in Pointe-Claire having another branch?

Quebec City's plan too...
Yellow line is also planned to have an extension per CAQ's plan. REM's extension will be quite cheap too for that section. Probably 45/55M$ per km.

Nothing, REM can go up to 80s frequency but if demand is too high, lines could be added a transfer like what happened to the SkyTrain for Evergreen extension.

A detailed look at the new MAX Bus Rapid Transit lines that just came online in Calgary on Monday. The frequency is terrible currently, but will likely be significantly improved with funding from the 2019 to 2022 municipal budget.

MAX Orange - North Crosstown

MAX Teal - South Crosstown

MAX Purple - International Avenue

At least if you are getting on the train at YVR you will get a seat They desperately need to increase capacity on the routes. I feel like they can figure out a way to get an extra train and have some creative enter/exit methods to overcome the station sizes.

Well, first of all, the 257 is every 20min most of the day now. And secondly, it is now officially "pick-up only" for the entire route (although the drivers were told to let people off at Park Royal if requested).

I'm surprised the BRT 300, 301, 302, and half of the 305 doesn't get any upgrade, or at least a fancy name... as they will still be called "BRT 301"

New transportation minister for Montreal region is suggesting tbat the LRT for the East Island would be a new REM line instead. Probably pink of colour... Since there's already a 95% grade seperated ROW, there's no real reason for a streetcar. At this stage, they should just outsource all transit planning to the CDPQi, they're much more pragmatic and efficient.

"MAX" is the same name as Portland's LRT. Maybe not the best choice of branding for Calgary's BRT.

Maybe they should have waited for transit ridership to fully recover before adding new routes.

No English source so far :

The STM is building a new futuristic undergound garage. They already build a modern one, Stinson. The STM wants innovative architecture and design as to have Montrealers proud. In any case the Bellechasse garage renders look great IMO.

I can just see Montrealers dubbing this the "bus-hole"

Le trou de bus instead of trou de beigne.

Anyways, it just shows the difference of attitude. In MTL folks complained about the integration of the station and the STM refined their proposal. I can see the ROC saying why the hell my taxes are going towards a designer's bus garage?

So cool to see the REM truly starting to look like a Network, just like the RER in Paris!

Montreal will have 3 substantial networks in such a case: Metro, REM, and EXO

In other news Union Stations Food Hall opened today:

I think this is actually an awesome moment for the city, whenever you travel to Europe or Asia the stations have a lot more services etc. Creates a reals destination and helps encourage transit use . . . Win win win

Are there train departure screens in the food court? I didn't see any in the video.

Food Court was sorely needed IMO. There were a few times where I was waiting between trains and needed something quick during a 45 min/one hour layover. Good to know there are more food options now.

Wow, sorry I missed your post. I haven't been down there in ages but may have to walk through tonight to check it out. I don't recognize the place anymore. I may even need the map to get around it. It looks like they did an incredible job. I also love seeing the diversity in that video of people which is probably my favorite thing about living in this city.

For some reasons, nothing depresses me more than a food court, in any context.
