The King's sales office looks almost ready to open. They also have a mock up glass wall there with Ivy on it. Sorry no pics.

I find it funny they still haven't shown a winter rendering. I want to see how it holds up covered in snow.

Ya and it actually improved from the original which looked to be grey concrete walls. I'm looking forward to the effect of the glass blocks being used on such a large development. ^^

There was only one of the old design. I would think it should hold up as well if not better then brick.

Ya that was before they added all of the little recesses and deciduous foliage instead of pine trees.

I think it could have a cool ice palace vibe going on, or it may end up a grey, slushy mess.

BIG's 79&park residential complex in Stockholm Sweden is similar covered in greenery minus the ivy on the walls. I think it's still U/C. If that one ends up looking good in a Swedish winter then this one should be fine in a Toronto winter.

This would have been perfect as a block development in the West Donlands. I find it too big as infill among the prewar warehouses on King West. The incorporation of several of those warehouses looks artificial as well. Amazing design. Wrong location. Sad.

I agree, though I'm hoping that the setbacks will help and the actual street view won't be as domineering as some of the renders make it look.

I agree fully. This project is very unfortunate in how much it disrupts the architectural and cultural significance of the site, and of the displacement of restaurants and businesses for some lowly condominiums. (which may have retail..but arguably is it worthwhile? I think not.

that king Toronto project is hideous and grotesque in the context of where it is going. Way to dwarf beautiful historic architecture with something that looks like it's out of a Will Smith movie. I have no issue with it on its own if it were in a completely different zone, but the heritage buildings virtually disappear .. classic architecture completely being obscured.. by something which is tacky when juxtaposed next to it. gross.

Toronto gets rightly criticized for building boring, bland, purely utilitarian, and/or ugly. Every time the city attempts to do better, think bigger, take a risk, and/or build something more polished, cosmopolitan, and/or interesting the old guard predictably are up in arms.

Wouldn't it be funny if after years of customers at a particular store complaining about the poor selection, when the store finally expanded their offerings people started bringing the stuff back with complaints about it being defective, and the store manager looked surprised and said, "But I thought people would be happy as long as they had choices! I never thought also wanted good quality! How could anybody care about two different things??"
