Looking forward to the changes coming to the Clement Avenue corridor over the next few years. Lots of run down, 1940s era shacks along there, especially on the block that is currently being redeveloped. One of Kelowna's ugliest neighborhoods could transform into one of the best.

I just wish the city would finish the Clement 4 laning from Richter to Ethel. I know they want the future developer of that property (former packinghouse) to cover that, as they would have to streetscape anyways, but theres no immediate plans yet. Area is a huge bottleneck in the mean time.

From wearable technology that monitors physical activity to an online rental platform, UBC entrepreneurs showcased their ideas at the opening of the Innovation UBC Kelowna Hub on Thursday.

Located in Kelowna’s Innovation Centre, the downtown facility provides a space for the UBC community to interact with the region’s innovation network.

“For more than a century, UBC’s discoveries and spin-off companies have played key roles in advancing technology, natural resources and life sciences sectors,” said Gail Murphy, UBC’s vice-president of research and innovation.

Crazy video showing what the future of Kelowna could look like, this was shown at a developer and counseller conference discussing where Kelowna is heading.

Fantastic updates! I love seeing Ella rise. It's going to add so much to that area.

Hello everyone. Its been a loooong time since ive been on this site. I used to be on this site more than 10 years ago. If you've ever seen some of the diagram drawings for kelowna I drew some of those up a while back.

Ive always loved urban planning and skyscrapers in general. Ever since I first went to edmonton or calgary and saw the skylines. Kelowna really seems to be really growing up. I cant wait to see what other new buildings are approved.

the most exciting area for me currently is where prospera place is with the one water towers and the ellis parc. If they approve those 2 towers in the prospera parking lot that is going to look amazing.

If anyone has ever seen the downtown civic precinct plan they have so much planned for the old rcmp building, the old interior health building, the museum, even the community theater. much of these areas are being revitalized. They are expanding the art walk from behind the parkade right to the bus station eventually.

It looks like the Westcorp hotel is still a go.

Really hope it goes ahead this time. So hard to see it happen until there is actually machinery on the ground.

^^You guys will think I'm crazy, but I think this tower is too tall for this location. The city set out strategic height restrictions and they have already ignored their own parameters several times, but this one is the worst offender. Don't get me wrong, beautiful tower, but downtown Kelowna needs to step up in height as you move away from the lake to maximize views and create skyline depth. I'd rather this building be about half the height.

^ I do hope it goes forward but I have some doubts about Westcorp's ability to pull it off.

I also really really hope it moves forward. It will complete the waterfront nicely and really give the Skyline a strong anchor. All the other developments going up currently are impressive but it takes a good 130 meter + tower to give the skyline the edge it needs.

Totally disagree with you. There will be other tall towers like this one built around it once this one is completed. You need the push for something to happen, and this tower is the answer.

I’m sure this will go ahead. Think about how long this has constantly been put on hold. Westcorp probably wants to finally get some shovels in the ground. The building has been approved so that hurdle is finally taken care of. After they build the presentation Center I really feel like this is going to sell like hot cakes. It’s probably going to be the nicest development next to one water street. I’m excited. Imagine 6 high rises all going up at the same time. Ella, Ellis parc, both one water street buildings, Brooklyn on Bernard and the Westcorp hotel.

Great location for a tower! Not too sure about the design though.
