I have been lurking for some time but decided to finally post a couple of my pictures. We purchased a unit in the Icon and are watching her construction closely, taking photos on a weekly basis.
Glazing's not looking half bad! Particularly on the North Side (I think that is at least)
I should have thought to label them! First pic is from North-East, second from the South (on Carling Avenue). I do a full 360 walkaround almost every week, trying to take the pictures from approximately the same spots. On the lower floors where there are already windows, you can see the metal framing for inner walls going in.

I don't know what kind of camera you used but these pictures show a lot more detail than previous photos.

Take a look back at the first page with the updated renderings with those windows and doors with the black frames, and a tight, solid look and feel to the building. Compare that to what's on the building so far. Sure looks like beyond misleading bait and switch, to an almost Andazian proportion.
At this stage of construction, do we have any good reason to think the finished product will resemble the renderings?
The indent in the glass wall on the 8 to 10th floors looks weird. I thought maybe windows were still to be installed but that's how it is in the rendering. It's the only part to have that detail on a building that already has too much going on.
The installation of the glass on the balconies will change the look again.
Yes, we went back to the plans to see what was happening on those three floors (8 to 10); different units, i.e., Bogart instead of Gehry.
Agreed, we can't really judge until the balcony rails are installed. HOWEVER: If the railings are flat panels, as in the last set of renderings (and the downgrades that Claridge always installs instead of good cladding) then all bets are off. The only way rounded balconies get upgraded is through rounded balcony glass (and of course extending down, covering the balcony slab edges...which probably also won't happen)
That is an interesting vantage point in that last pic by Rakerman above...the building looks similar in height to those around it, while from other places in the city, it looks significantly taller...
Does anyone know how many floors are left to go? It is quite the impressive sight to see when I am driving westbound on the Queensway on my was to work in the morning.
According to Bellai the 34th floor was poured this past week. 45 stories of residential plus one for mechanical plus another small one for high roof (elevator mechanical) for a total of 47. I would guess that end of March it will be topped out as Ottawa's highest building... at least for now.
