Off topic but one thing I would like to see are existing retail pads stand alone street facing restaurants around Tempe from Broadway north to Rio Salado perform renovations to modernize their facilities.

Great Example: Jack in the Box on University and Mill, it looks fresh, clean, modern.

Current Bad Example: Thai Basil or McDonalds on Rural and apache. Those need a facelift. Taco bell on the corner as well as other restaurants have performed rehabs to modernize/give a fresh look.

I know they all cost a large amount of money and who would pay that if they weren't required to? I think this would certainly improve the walkable, urban city feel Tempe desires to create.

Glad to finally see this one moving! This will definitely change the tempe skyline. Let's cross our fingers the Westin follows shortly after.

^ Good find, but this is a mobile boom crane not a tower crane.

The space on the site isn't constrained enough for a fixed tower crane.

310' would also be wayyy too big for the low/mid-rise programming there. The permit is for "maximum operating height," eg, the length of the boom fully extended upwards.

No, the Collective is just the single tower on a .4 acre lot, built in a single phase.

You might be thinking of the Westin? Which is a separate project proposed for the adjacent parcel to the west.

You might be thinking of the Westin? Which is a separate project proposed for the adjacent parcel to the west.

I was going off the link you re-posted on attachments 43 and 44. On attachment 44 the two towers, as well as the hotel to the west all appear to be sharing the same platform. Unless I'm missing something?

Ah yes. Starting at attachment 42, those pages are showing the former PAD from '08 when all the parcels from Mill to Myrtle along 7th St. we're unified. That's not the current plan--the Collective is only the .4 acres on the eastern third.

Construction trailer parked outside the Westin development site on Mill/7th street. Hopefully its for the hotel but could be for the Collective.

Grabbed a quick construction update shot of the Pier while on my bike ride today. Looks like they are moving along. Couple of new concrete pours since the last update back in like June. This development is like the alter-ego to the Link...so slooooww.

I was going to mention I saw two concrete pump trucks working on site last week. They don’t have a building permit pulled yet though, right? So they can only do foundation work? I’m assuming they’re waiting to secure additional financing. Idk.

I am actually seeing some activity at Park Place everyday, mostly at the construction trailer. They have done a little scratching around here and there on the site. I expect demo of the two buildings and removal of the mobis behind them to happen very soon. Full on construction should be underway well before the end of the year.

I am going to have an excellent view watching all this.

I like it! The blue is unique and looks good. The height is decent. Hopefully they move quickly.

I can’t imagine if we get another tower or two proposed in Tempe with everything else under way already!

It may have been posted earlier, but Valley Metro is doing an open house this Thursday to give an update on the streetcar. Hopefully some good news.

Have they already started the streetcar project? They have rails stacked up to the yen-yang along Mill Ave. I didn't notice if they had broken ground yet though.
