A double-decker Airbus A380 landed in Denver for the first time last night.

Pretty interesting milestone for Denver - we landed our first Airbus A380 in history (and first Air France tail) due to a passenger's medical issue forcing a flight diversion:
^Yes, that's Denver shining in the background.
Obviously it's extremely unlikely we'll ever see this plane again, but KDEN built Runway 16R/34L at 16,000' long in order to accomodate a plane of this size. We are the only "diversion airport" within an 800-mile radius on this segment of the Paris-Los Angeles route with the runway length to handle the A380. Both British Airways and Lufthansa also roster these planes, but Denver doesn't have the O&D traffic to justify using the plane. Additionally, KDEN doesn't have the gate accomodations nor the specialized de-icing trucks to handle the plane.
Pretty nice feeling to know that, for at least a few hours, Denver hosted both an A380 and an Air France tail; two things that will likely never happen again. Also worthy of note, Denver hosted the Concorde (at Stapleton) when former British Prime Minister Tony Blair attended the global summit we held in the early 1990s.
