For the love of sweet Jesus... not Crystal city.

Just go with NY Amazon! Don't denigrate yourself to Crystal city.

Or give it to Dallas, but not Crystal. They've been drinking too much Cristal. And the wrong one, which is laced with methanol hence the blindness of the Amazon Execs to consider Crystal city. Maybe if they drunk some Dom Pérignon Rose Gold... they could think clearly.

Go with your heart, and the closest thing to the shape of a heart is an apple, a big red apple!

"Ultimately the decision will be made with intuition after gathering and studying a lot of data — for a decision like that, as far as I know, the best way to make it is you collect as much data as you can, you immerse yourself in that data but then you make the decision with your heart," Bezos told Isaacson..."

As was quoted, what heart? He talked about intuition anyway- "Intuition is your brain on autopilot" -not your heart.

Maybe all the talk of Crystal City will jinx it.

I saw this description of Amazon on Reddit. Can't say they're wrong, lol...

"Sometimes Amazon acts like it's the unpopular girl who just needs to let her hair down and try contacts before anyone will notice. But simultaneously acts like a class A bitch who dates multiple people at once for attention."

In New York you wouldn’t even notice it.

I just don’t get crystal city. Arlington has far better areas for this purpose

Not next to any educational institutions

It’s architecturally boring

The residential neighborhoods close by are modest and can’t be densified

Not a ton of buildable land

close to a sewage treatment plant which probably can’t be moved

Totally a government area (no tech clusters anywhere close by), g-man attitude

My guess is they put their lobbying effort here and hq2 goes somewhere else.

I don't think Chuy was ever running this time, he's about to take Luis Guiterrezs House Rep seat, why would he flush a shoo in Federal office down the toilet to run again like 17 people for mayor?

You wouldn't notice it in Manhattan. It's more likely going to go to Brooklyn or Queens if they were to choose NYC.

IMO several cities will get a tiny slice of the pie vs all going to Northern Virginia.

The whole process was a scam. It was Bezo's choice all along.

This slow leaking is not as exciting when the Boeing took of on a plane and would not say where he was going vs 3 cities. I think he announced upon the team landing in the said city of their choice.

I remember that one like where I was on 9-11.

The media and the CEO's and their teams keep their cards closer to the chest than this fiasco back in the good old days.

Amazon would be simply absorbed into the unparalleled economic juggernaut that is New York. I tend to think NYC would feel it the least.

Nope, we haven't ever dealt with inside sources in the AMZN HQ2 process before. The difference before with all of your examples was that it was just Internet speculation by people in news and media companies giving their 2 cents. None of those people had any inside knowledge but were speaking for themselves based off empirical data they've collected.

Now news and media outlets are stating that insiders that do have knowledge of Amazon's search have reached out to them and are saying that its been reduced to just 3 or 4 cities that are in consideration and in advanced discussions with Amazon. If you glance over to the timeline where 2018 is ending soon, this is right where Amazon should be. It should be looking at its final 3 or 4 candidates and finalizing its decision soon.

Amazon is inching ever closer to making its long-awaited decision on where to build its second North American headquarters, with the company entering “advanced discussions” to set up shop in Arlington County, Virginia’s Crystal City, with additional facilities in nearby Potomac Yard in Alexandria, the Washington Post reported on Saturday. However, on Sunday the Wall Street Journal reported similar negotiations are ongoing with officials in Dallas and New York, while CNBC reported that Austin is also a strong contender.

That urban requirement became an urban legend on discussion boards. The actual wording in the RFP is:

"Urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent"

I hope Crystal $hitty doesn't get it. It would be great for the DC metro, but no. Just no.
