I’ve been saying this for a while but this is a done deal guys. Going to the DC area.

Good luck to those Millennial employees ever being able to afford those multi-million dollar McMansions in Loudoun/Fairfax County...

Between this report and Bezos saying he would go with his heart (which is clearly in DC and not Atlanta or Chicago, two cities he hasn't even visited), it's hard to believe NoVA isn't a done deal at ths point.

Honestly? I think everyone on here should feel robbed.
Amazon had specifically stated they wanted to be in a dense urban area with access to public transit, decently affordable living, and a large city culture to go with it. Places like Chicago, Philly, or even dare-I-say Austin TX match most (if not all) of their requirements.
NoVa is literally the most expensive place in the nation to live right now. It has the Metro, sure, but that was built to funnel people INTO Washington. Not out and around. If they're really headed to NoVa at this point I struggle to come up with any reason why other than Bezos living nearby.

Had the decision been made several months, I would have been tiffed.

But at this point, after dragging it out for so long, it's whatever. As nice as it would be, Atlanta didn't really *NEED* Amazon. Congrats to the DMV!!!

That said, when Amazon officially announces HQ2 is going to NoVA, ATL3K should come back and take his lumps like a man.

That's why he got himself banned. He did it on purpose to avoid this eventuality.

That thought occurred to me, as much as I love a good conspiracy theory, but he has since doubled down on his "HQ2 to ATL and not NoVA" prediction on his Twitter page.

To be fair, not that it changes my point (Bezos owns a home in Texas as well), but it also says things are down to Austin.

"Memo to the genius leaking info about Crystal City, VA as #HQ2 selection. You’re not doing Crystal City, VA any favors. And stop treating the NDA you signed like a used napkin." - From the director of economic development at Amazon. If he's that angry, it probably means it's gonna be Crystal City.

That's probably the closest thing to a smoking gun we're going to get.

This is essentially the same thing that ATL3000 said he saw for Atlanta, however, there seems to be actual confirmation from Amazon on this one. I suspect this is being done for multiple locations, so I would not say the contest is over at this point.

I thought his "smoking gun" was some nondescript LOI for the AT&T building that no one else has seen/heard of?

No he didn't. He believes in his convictions. Even with this news, he still proclaims his theory on Twitter.

Just let him back in, y'all.

Been following for 14 years. This forum sucks without him (atl3000) It’s a snooze fest. You all were like little poor clowns when he gave you info but now you have nothing but curbed articles and business chronicle shit. The only people that contribute here are cabasse, terminus, smartalone, and atl3000. This forum is a joke now. People will probably break the new curb paint now. You can hate on 3000 but you still live in suwanee and want more. Somebody do a new Atlanta thread that means business and if you know where atl3000 is send us that way

If you don't like the forum without atl3000, you're just going to have to deal with it, since he asked to be banned. His ego is far too big for him to contact a mod and apoligize. If you want to follow him, he is on Twitter @cbenderatl.

If you read his tweets carefully, he's slowing planting the seeds for an excuse to get out of his prediction, that excuse being "ATL *WAS* the finalist, but the Gulch deal wasn't passed" (with nothing to back up that claim).

Question is, what mental gymnastics will he perform if the Gulch deal does pass on Monday and Amazon still picks NoVA, after claiming Amazon had given an 11/5 deadline? Meanwhile, Atlanta will be out of $1.9 billion in revenue without any *REAL* concessions (public streets and a provision for commuter rail/MMPT) and only getting a poor man's Atlantic Station.

The Second Coming! Welcome back. I don't think Amazon HQ2 will locate here, and frankly hope not.
