Good to hear that Austin is a close second on the shortlist (per CNBC); TBH a split HQ2 might make more sense overall than just a single location. It could limit some of the social and economic damage a full HQ would do and maybe lower the temp on some of the PR nastiness. Also a better way to take advantage of distributed talent pools.

An Austin - NoVa HQ2 split would give then a Western, Central and Eastern campus.

I posted this on Aug 25th in this thread. I still think it makes the most sense to choose two. I also think more people would rather move to Austin than the DC area, which is probably why Austin has always been a strong contender.

My opinion has always been that more than one city will get HQ2. As in, one city in the central part of the US (Austin, maybe) and another city on the east coast (D.C., maybe). But, who knows.

With or without any word from Delta, maybe this is why Austin is so bullish with its ~$4 billion, Phase 1, master plan expansion?!?

Obviously, Phase 1, as currently described, is the most expensive of all the phases. It sets the groundwork for all future phases.

I too like the split idea. Makes since on several levels.

Maybe a 4th smaller campus here too! (just to piss off Indy, Pittsburgh, and especially Cleveland-which would rather the state to be nuked rather than for lowly Columbus to get something it can't have).

Because he is an asshole and a snake and cannot be trusted. Nothing against Austin-Austin is a great thriving booming city and the city should have some major league sports. Glad that Austin is also (apparently) going to be a winner here as well-just wish Austin could do so without involvement with that snake.

The city should not give him a damn thing-he has such a hard-on for Austin he will probably do whatever it takes at this point so make him cough up the $$$.

Maybe true, but in this case it worked out IMO to be a win/win for both cities. Other than that, I really could not care less about her-was just having a little fun. So stupid NIMBY's can actually have a useful purpose after all-who would have thought it possible?

Best of luck to Austin for HQ2 or a branch of it at least and for it's new soccer team.

Just wanted to let you know, I've been to all your major cities and Chilicothe and I enjoyed all my visits there, some business, some just passing through, but Columbus is my favorite. Love that town! I have a few buckeyes (nuts) in my collect all drawer. I like Ohio State football. I get the passion you'll show in everything Ohio. I get your disgust with Precourt. But you guys do need to show your support for soccer and fill those seats like you do for Buckeye games. If you ever get down here to Austin, stop by and say hi.
