Nah, we will never stop referring to Hypothetical Amazon Tower as Amazon Tower, no matter what they do to stab us in the back, even if they build it and move to Hoffman Estates a decade after the tower is complete.

Yeah, but even an imploding Amazon would leave a lot of useful shrapnel to build new companies out of. When Arthur Anderson blew up, it wasn't a total loss. Even with Sears, it was a slow decline that have people plenty of time to adjust and, in the mean time, it had generated tremendous wealth for Chicago.

Jeff Bezos says he will ultimately decide Amazon HQ2's location on 'intuition'
Quote:
As Amazon continues to assess the 20 locations on its shortlist for its second headquarters ahead of its self-imposed year-end deadline, CEO Jeff Bezos said the decision is ultimately one you make "with your heart."

In an on-stage interview in New York on Thursday with journalist and author Walter Isaacson, Bezos did not leave any hints about which of the cities on his shortlist he is leaning toward for HQ2. But he clarified that after Amazon has all the data to back up its options, in the end the decision will come down to a gut feeling.

"Ultimately the decision will be made with intuition after gathering and studying a lot of data," Bezos said. "[T]he best way to make it is you collect as much data as you can, you immerse yourself in that data, but then you make that decision with your heart."

So that’s not at all what he said.

But, who cares? Be sure to buy that Echo Dot on Black Friday.
Huh? Facebook offers nothing yet like 1 billion people have it and I personally know people that spend WAAAAY to much time on it. Its not because it offers them nothing, it offers them a lot actually.

That seems like just cliche to say in 2018. Lets be real, is your facebook just troll factory? Mine isn't. I have a rather small friend list and even smaller amount of pages I follow, so I don't really deal with randos.

I wouldn't count on Amazon going super tall(or even close)anywhere. They could have done that in Seattle, and have not. They are going to make that 5 billion stretch as far as they can(along with the billions they get from the chosen city/state) and higher up means more $$$$. Bezos is sort of a cheapskate really and I think much of his recent largesse (money for homeless, etc) is for his reputation and the reputation of the company and that only. Money spent, but spent strategically.

I still think Atlanta, Chicago, and DC are most likely JMO obviously.

No, true hipsters order everything from a Sears catalog.

You'll just never understand that kind of authenticity.

WaPo says that Amazon is in "advanced discussions" for HQ2 in Crystal City.

I'd expect they are at this stage for a half -dozen candidate sites but the DC area is just worse at keeping secrets...

Since Bezos owns WaPo, it's probably legit.

I don't think that's much of an indication. WaPo is just has better ears to the ground there than anyone.

Nobody should take anything to the bank yet or that any particular place will be the sole site.

tbh it would have been funny if Chicago technically stole another major HQ from Seattle.
