That's what the palm trees are for. You won't see that deck much at all.

Hmmm... transplanting palm trees to north Georgia in October with all the fronds still on? I wonder what they'll replace them with in the spring...

True but we don't know what kind of time-line that project will shoot for. All of the others seem to be starting right now. According to Curbed, even 8West plans to break ground by the end of the quarter even though they just filled for LD permit.

On a related note, a lot more projects seem to be getting through the permit process a lot faster - around 3 months as opposed to 5-6 months. I suppose its the result a streamlined process thanks to the planning commissioner.

It looks like demolition is underway at 524 West Peachtree

to build this beauty.

I did also find this drawing which looks a lot more promising. Is there a chance that the planning department worked with the developer on the design of this hotel like they did for the 640 Peachtree street proposal?

Hotels these days are so ugly looking. What happened to these old days when hotels actually took pride in what they looked like? Every hotel basically looks like carbon copies of each other.

Agree, but in this particular case the updated rendering looks as good as the Chrysler Building compared to the previous rendering.

Much higher labor/material costs and much more regulations.

Oh please let a new design be true. I agree with Ant. I mean does the architect and developer think they "nailed it" when they put out that garbage? Why would you even to put your name on something like this as a designer let alone the hotel brand? They couldn't come up with an uglier building if they were trying to.

I'm really hoping the Emory 1,000 space parking deck just north doesn't get built. Would be a total shame if that lot turns into an even larger parking deck. I've heard there has been discussions with the neighborhood, but haven't heard of any progress in particular.

we have to remember what this is replacing.

they ought to take the façade off and use it on the first three floors to mask the parking deck. that's the *least* i expect.

Stat Metals alone may have 4 if this Instagram post is correct.

Wow, that’s really exciting news!

O4W needs the GA Power development to break ground to keep up with the pace and density of this area, midtown, and buckhead (and arguably Memorial Drive).

Virginia Highland is the biggest disappointment of this development cycle, IMO. Also hoping we see a mixed use or two go in around the WST, potentially by Lee & White. But I’d only want that to happen if we don’t bastardize the land with extravagant parking decks or poor street interaction for pedestrians and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Based on the position of the first crane at the far back of the site, the Star Metals residential will definitely have two cranes. Also a crane is on the Osprey site but its not a tower crane.
