What were those steakhouses that used to have a caboose out front? I always liked them.

Is this actually happening? They burned out the inside and removed the caboose from its wheels so I am a bit skeptical. Although I guess they could fix it up, repaint it, and put it back together.

Was originally reported in 2016 it would stay. Other than this, I have no further information.

I just noticed the same thing this weekend. The tower they have built so far looks only about half as wide as the rendering.

I'm guessing they do this for safety reasons. They use this technique on prefab parking garages. I think this allows them to have a crew build out the interior of the 'phase I' part while they build 'phase II'. It might be kind of risky allowing hundreds of construction crew inside doing build out while they are actively placing cement pieces above them.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about this project so pure speculation.

If I am interpreting what you are saying is they built one side of the building, erecting all the way to the top, and then starting erecting on the second side of the building. This is because it likely is a hollow core or similar system, and for scheduling purposes it is best to erect in two sequences. The floors will typically have to be topped, and you must pour top down. By doing this, it allows them to get in there weeks or months earlier than if they were to erect the whole structure at once.

[QUOTE=smArTaLlone;8344531]Those kids will have some great views.

That view of the core is a beautiful thing.

Whenever the blocks between 17th/16th/Spring/West Peachtree street are developed, the city will have one of the longest and most impressive skylines in America.

We in Atlanta may lament the lack of height during this construction boom, but the infill is undeniably working to connect the more isolated areas of the CBD.

Osprey

Osprey will be built with the same modular construction system as Generation Atlanta called Prescient.

I'm not sure but I believe Prescient is the building method; Osprey is the building name.

Demolition has started on the Interlock site.

If everything moves forward as planned, there could be as many as 10 cranes up at the same time in the Howell Mill, Marietta corridor.
  • Theory West Midtown (2)
  • Star Metals apartments
  • Star Metals office
  • 788 West Midtown
  • 10th & Howell Mill
  • 8West apartments
  • 8West office
  • Interlock apartments
  • Interlock office/hotel

Why can't they cover up that parking deck? I would hate to look at that while in the pool.
