PS. Still, no signs of a webcam but I believe there is one for the project. Spotted one that looks like an Earthcam on top of the stairway tower for the Compuware Parking garage (And wasn't there in previous years for google maps)

I don't even live in Detroit and this is amazing. This view especially, all the other views are fantastic but this one shows architectural diversity. This new tower is a stunner with the plain old façade but I expect SHOP to create something amazing than just glass.

The above mock-up has alleviated my prior concern that this 912-footer might look too short when viewed from the Detroit River. Of course it would look bigger if it were closer to the river, but this is not bad at all.
Also, kudos to illustrator Koodoo for providing an excellent illustration of this tower on the Diagrams page. I've uploaded a screenshot of the Diagrams page showing that Hudson Tower can hold its own when compared with Chicago's tallest buildings:

Forgive me, but I find the latest version a bit dystopian, almost too big compared to the rest of town.
Although it would be impossible to do worse than the overly massive Renaissance Center.
Hell, it could be the seat of a 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵 authoritarian fascist or communist regime.
No kidding, that's ambitious, but they'd better build more big things to follow that one.

I know what you mean, we have a bit of Burj Khalifa syndrome going on here with the tower being so much taller than everything else around it. I REALLY love the redesign though. Much more interesting and fitting for a new tallest. I hate to complain about the height. A decade ago this project would have seemed like an impossible fantasy.

Well, I don't think it's any more dominating than Sears Tower was back in 1974. People quickly got used to that sight, so I'm sure they will also get used to Hudson Tower vs. the rest of Detroit. And Hudson Tower's tapered design helps make it appear less "too big".

Most people despise RC, myself included, but it’s not going anywhere. The best we can hope for is to fill our the skyline so it isn’t as impactful. Which hopefully Hudson’s and Monroe are just beginning.

There are a few missing tall proposals on that sample with Chicago bigs, but I guess for the sake of keeping the list to ten it's fine.
Anyway, those pictures showing what it might look like with the tower in the city aren't dystopian or Burj Khalifan in the slightest to me. The tower fits in super well, and it's only a few hundred feet taller than the plateau of Detroit's rather flat skyline, and adds some nice change of pace. I wouldn't worry about it dominating the skyline, especially with the Monroe block getting built and even better building up that part of the city's skyline.
Detroit should be hyped.

I actually like Ren Cen very much. Every time I am in Detroit (I live only about 40-min drive from it) I look at Ren Cen with admiration. I especially like the rim lights that keep changing colors.

I initially wanted to include just the built and under-construction ones, but threw in One Chicago Square because it looks remarkably similar to Hudson Tower.

Totally! The latest news about this building has caused me to suddenly care much less about the supertalls that are rising in NYC and Chicago. They may be substantially taller than 912 ft, but this is *our* new tallest building, the first one since 1977!
