You just watch. People will eventually agitate for $20 an hour.

Then proceed to complain that that's not enough.

I mean, good for them. I'm out here "agitating" for as much damn money as I can get.

Because it's not enough. $15 an hour for full-time 40 hour a week employees is $28k a year. Does that sound good enough for you? You think people should shut up and be grateful for $15 an hour and not want more for themselves?

How does this even affect you that other people are getting pay raises at a private corporation?

The fallacy of the insatiable living wage demands is that, somehow, Americans have always been able to manage working for minimum wage or whatever their employees agree to pay them.

Of course you can't buy a house and support three kids on $15 on hour. Last time I was earning minimum wage I was living with Mom and Dad.

https://www.businessinsider.com/amazon-hq2-reps-visited-chicago-second-time-report-2018-9

Amazon reportedly visited Chicago in August, and it could mean everything we think we know about its HQ2 decision so far is dead wrong

Amazon reportedly made a second visit to HQ2 contender Chicago in August, as it prepares to announce its decision on where to place its second headquarters by the end of the year.

Amazon representatives visited The 78, a development slated for the city's South Loop neighborhood.

If Amazon did indeed visit Chicago for HQ2 purposes recently, it could mean the contest is far from over, and it may be more wide-open than had previously been speculated.

Apparently, Amazon hasn't gotten enough of the Windy City.
Representatives for the company made a visit to the city in connection with its second headquarters search in August...

The visit is notable, as it's reportedly the only repeat, HQ2-related visit from Amazon representatives to a city or location on Amazon's short list.

the visit was planned so that representatives could see the site for a new, 62-acre development called The 78. Located in the South Loop, it's one of the last sizable pieces of undeveloped land close to the city's core.
That could make it attractive to Amazon, which stipulated in its request for proposals that it desired an urban campus for its second headquarters, much like its original campus in Seattle.

A second visit at such a crucial time in the HQ2 process could throw open the doors of speculation on HQ2. Though most analysts and experts have been betting on Northern Virginia as the winner, Chicago remaining in the running as late as August is significant.
Amazon declined to comment on the report to Business Insider.

Dale,

Either you get Corporate America to pay a living wage or you and I and everyone paying taxes will have to support people working part-time and full-time jobs making less than $15.00 and they will need support via Government entitlement programs (food stamp, housing vouchers, medicaid...etc).

So it sounds like you support either BIG GOVERNMENT or PEOPLE STARVING, HOMELESS AND/OR DYING? Which is it?

Why stop at $15 though? Why not make it $25? or $50? Then everyone will be rich right?

If you mandate high enough wages, people will become unemployed and need even more government assistance. I can see your endgame is a world where everyone is fully reliant for their livelihood on the government!

I don't see a reason to delete anything in Atlanta sub-threads. Maybe in the City Compilations, but why back here in the weeds?

Maybe a mod could explain what rule(s) were broken? An implied threat?

It must have happened (and swiftly) after you said "100%" in response to jct3, because I don't notice any missing posts.

What exactly was being discussed?

3 idiots I named above believe people should make less than $15 because they are going then want 25, 50 dollars an hour. One of the dipshits said if they make more then they won't have a job and the government will have to support them. I can not and will not listen to such utter ignorance. This forun is more stupid for having read their posts.

Hmmm, I'm able to see this response:

Yeah - I responded, but I had an outer body experience so my memory is not 100%. With that said, I may have said to one of them to GTFOH and go back to the Chicago forum, said another was ignorant and probably called another of the perpetrators Mother a whore...or something like that.
