It's hands down my favorite residential tower in the country. Very jealous of Calgary.

lmao!! I knew I'd get that question. It is Arriva, it actually doesn't look nearly as bad in real life as it does in this image. When it was built ten years ago it was the tallest residential building between Vancouver and Toronto. Now it's been surpassed several times over by other Calgary buildings. It has a pretty cool dynamic LED strip that lights up at night.

The LED strip that's been half burned out since it was installed?

Yeah that's definitely its least attractive angle. North / south look better. Standards have definitely changed in the last 10 years. I remember thinking Arriva was so cool when it was first built. Compared to other towers from that period it was nicer. It usually passes for filler, but when it's cropped in a photo next to our best 3 towers it really highlights how subpar it has become. I blame it on Calgary trying to copy Vancouver from 20 years ago.

Worse than Arriva is the blue roofed Hyatt across the street from Telus Sky.

I believe they have fixed it once or twice, but it keep burning out. Most buildings in this city with LED strips just leave them off now, they all are having major issues I think. Is this common in other cities?

I've always suspected it has to do with our city's penchant for cheaping out on things. You get what you pay for. Vancouver and Toronto don't seem to have these issues. Montreal's night lighting is stunning. Though it is usually achieved by flood lights instead of LED strips it seems.

Read my last post, though trump is cheap and tacky so the fact his lighting thing never worked well is of no surprise. Also Aura has had a few light out now for some time. I'm looking forward to the Ones lighting features.

I'm more interested on seeing this installed this fall. This video by the way was made in 2014 back when people assumed Apple was going to be the flagship retail here.

Here is one he had in London.
