Georgia Power

Does anyone know if Georgia Power is consolidating their O4W to Virginia Highland? They’re currently demoing at their Virginia Highland parcel (which I will keep repeating until it’s developed, has some of the best views of the city, is pretty transit accessible with the 36 and future EST LRT, and arguably walakabke to plenty of jobs in midtown in addition to those on the EST). Definitely a location we should be encouraging dessert development.

Couldn't agree more. Whenever I see that render, it's a complete gut punch. That would have been one of Atlanta's best structures.

The northwest quadrant of Ponce de leon Place and Plyant Street.

With Georgia power and the metal fabricators to the south, there’s a lot of industrial land for redevelopment.

Oh whoah I didn’t realize this was under construction, nice!

Makes me wonder if I’m missing other projects in buckhead that may also be under construction? Maybe Camden phase II is well under way by east Andrews??

Yes - looks about the same sq footage, but much more vertical (which likely would have been more costly).

Will be interesting to see Anthem rise (and possibly tower #2) as well as the GT tower(s) in the future. Midtown is a different place and nice to see life on the streets!

It is well underway. All the trees along Roswell are gone. You wouldn’t recognize that part of the street.

Most likely.

BREAKING: Lacking votes, ATL’s $5 billion gulch project delayed | AJC

I am sure many here won't like this, but this is a good thing. We don't need to rush a bunch of incentives for this site.

Wouldn't you rather have ATL's city council do their due diligence and properly negotiate before blindly approving potentially crappy deals?

No one's calling for the development to stop just making sure it's the right deal for all parties involved. CIM already has a bad track record in other cities on overpromising and under-delivering.

Somewhat agree, but am getting disgusted on how things move here now. I love ATL, seems like some dynamics are lacking somewhere, then we have Dewberry...Countless projects on hold, dead, or cheap looking.

I agree with some of the comments posted about the lack of height of the recent towers in midtown. This one breaks up that plateau, and it's designed by Pickard Chilton...two positives in my opinion.

Agreed.

And it could be much worse. In Detroit, the city council just killed plans for a 28-story addition and 250 permanent jobs to their Crowne Plaza that was fully financed and the developer was asking for *NO* tax incentives. And it was all over one bad Yelp review and the Council trying to force unionization on their workers.
