The lantern shines again! Drove by there on the Schuylkill after work today and noticed it was lit. Too bad it's still quite cloudy out though so not sure how visible it'll be.

No lantern lit tonight. The staining at the base of the north side of the lantern, just above the cooling towers is very apparent.

so far the coolest part about this building is its reflection in Stern's far superior tower across the way!

lol sorry lord norman better luck next time!

Meanwhile Jahn's twins continue to be the aesthetic lynchpin of the city skyline, danke Helmut.

I don't agree with the far superior, but my real pet peeve is with the generally accepted practice of crediting all work from a starchitect's firm to the figure-head namesake of the firm. I have to wonder whether Robert A. M. Stern himself has designed anything in recent decades. The lead architect for Comcast Center (and previously for 10 Rittenhouse) is Graham S. Wyatt of Robert A.M. Stern Architects.

Edit: I see on RAMSA's website, 3 of the firms partners are credited with Comcast Center, including Stern. The same trio is also credited with One Crescent Drive at the Navy Yard, another Liberty Property Trust project.

Project Partners
Robert A.M. Stern
Meghan L. McDermott
Graham S. Wyatt

Wouldn't LC Tower 1 look so much better if it were 10 stories taller. Just tower 1.

I've heard people say this and I think it def would benefit from a proportionality perspective, in addition to the obvious height increase. Hindsight is 2020 tho.

I talked to my cousin who worked for Comcast and she said people have moved in to the new building. When should we have to move this to the Completed Buildings section?

BTW, I asked her about Comcast 3 and she had nothing to say.

had nothing to say because she didn't know anything, or because she wasn't allowed to say anything?

As long as there's painter's tape on it, it's still U/C.

Jokes aside, the "painters tape" on the lower section of the south has been removed and it was obviously not coming off like it should (did they leave it on too long?). The finish seems to be ruined, from the ground level perspective anyway.

This picture doesn't really capture it that well but the square lit windows of the hotel portion is a cool effect. Normally you see ribbons of windows lit as opposed to a checkerboard pattern.

The hotel portion is still under construction any way, shape, or form. Just walk by the western hotel entrance, it's still heavily UC.
