"Norfolk Southern Corp. is once again emerging as a key driver in a potentially historic deal to redevelop downtown Atlanta’s “Gulch.”

In a presentation before city economic development officials, the railroad giant was said to be part of negotiations for a more than $100 million sale of Gulch property to Los Angeles-based CIM Group, which is pitching an up-to $5 billion redevelopment of the old downtown rail yard where trains from across the South once converged.

The clock is ticking on those negotiations, said Ralph Dickerson, part of a team working on a land deal with CIM on behalf of the city.

Norfolk Southern is “driving the schedule,” Dickerson said in a meeting with Invest Atlanta, the city’s economic development arm. The railroad company is likely aiming to complete the transaction by the end of September and ahead of third quarter earnings, he said.

His comments come as Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is urging city council members to approve legislation that frees up to $1.75 billion in public financing to support the redevelopment."
Amazon set the stage for large companies to know how much incentives they can garner from a region. The corporate term is sniping. Apple sniped recently proposed NC Triangle site, Microsoft sniped Toronto HQ2 site CIBC Square, the US Army took the Austin site, etc. Large companies use similar metrics to determine location, so I am not surprised another very large company chose Atlanta. As I stated previously, ther eis a 90% chance an Amazon fulfilment center arrives, probably in southern or northwest ATL.

Then someone somewhere is lying.

KLB specifically said a Fortune 500 company was pushing for these incentives to relocate their HQ, yet while Norfolk Southern is confirmed to be the Fortune 500 company in question pushing these incentives to be done by Monday, the reason being told now is different.

So as Oprah would say: "What is the truth?"

What did I say Bezos and the Board are most concerned about.....?
Perfect time for Bezos to announce this before he gets Billions in subsides for HQ2. This should be wrapped up soon.

Do you honestly think KLB (I like your acronym use here) would stand up before the City Council and say she needs this for HQ2? There is a NDA that prevent KLB (I still like it) from mentioning them publicly.

Reading between the lines

I suspect the Governor and Mayor told Norfolk Southern if our State and City have to pony up Billions in incentives to lure HQ2, you have to commit to moving your HQ from Norfolk, VA as well. I guarantee when this all shakes out, this is what happened!
See my post above.

Even if it's about the land sale, something still doesn't add up, especially with the use of alarmist words such as "the clock is ticking." That implies that the sale is conditional upon something else happening, but it shouldn't have amything to do with the passage of the incentive package (and framkly, I thought the sale was already complete).

I don't expect her to say that, but if she's in fact using Norfolk Southern's desire to sell their land as leverage to get something for HQ2 passed, then she did basically lied.

S-17 you are drowning here so let me draw you a float.....

What quarter of the year is the biggest for Amazon...Q4. We are now a couple of weeks before we leave Q3 and start Q4. Correct me if I am wrong, but KLB (still like it) said the Fortune 500 company in question wanted to get the deal done last quarter. You connecting the dots now S-17?

Regardless of the city Amazon selects for HQ2 there is going to be blow back from consumers when the 2nd largest company and wealthiest person in the world are going to receive Billions in subsides. The closer the announcement comes to Q4 or happens in Q4 the more likely it could impact their Q4 revenues. Make sense?

Note the USA Today article I posted above. You see why Bezos did that now?

There is absolutely nothing in what KLB (I still like it) said was a lie. I posted the video. Go back and watch and tell me the hour, minute and second where her lying began. I have watched it a couple of times so I know I am right.

Also it tells us all of the stuff in front of city council is about closing the land deal and nothing else.

She is using the possibility as leverage because hype behind Amazon's consideration will prompt the council to action in the same manner that DC/MD/VA finally provided dedicated funding for the metro system. She is stating possibilities while allowing people to draw their own conclusions, not outright lying.

Norfolk Southern needs the deal booked in the 3rd qtr.

btw, I do think Bezos making big donations to charity is part of a broader campaign to improve their image.

The same reason why he is in DC this week courting powerful lawmakers. He has also met with some members of the Senate, but not Bernie Sanders. Amazon is also not making a decision because they plan to appease many areas by dropping them a fig leaf. The fact no announcement was made is not surprising. Any Top 10 area is likely to receive something of value.

Everything being reported is simply not adding up with what she said.

Why would someone say "the clock is ticking" for a land sale, as if there's a possibility it won't happen (and if so, what is the reason for that possibility)?

Why would the economic development official even mention the incentive package for the relocation of a HQ in this interview if it has nothing to do with Norfolk Southern's land sale?

Sweet God in Heaven. I take the time to research and post facts and videos here and either you (I am not just pointing a finger at just AlwaysDrinkin' either) don't read/watch or you are too overwhelmed in the face of a lot of information. Which is it? Note I have refrained from calling anyone stupid or special needs - in this post or previously. I guess the medication and shock therapy is working.

Below is the link to view the video (again). To be clear, KLB NEVER SAID SHE NEEDED THE CITY COUNCIL TO SIGN THE AGREEMENT BECAUSE IT WOULD IMPACT A LAND SALE>>>>>>SHE SAID DELAYING OR NOT SIGNING COULD IMPACT THE CORPORATE RELOCATION OF A FORTUNE 500 COMPANY.

I think the land sale was announced last quarter, so it's plausible that they did in fact want it completed in the 2nd quarter, to get off their books as soon as possible, which would jive with what KLB said.

Only the CoA land sale (9+ acres) and subsequent land swap for 3 additional acres happened at the beginning of this quarter. Nothing else has been formally announced.
