Really impressed with the sound, lighting and scoreboard. The place really looks imposing from ice level, the north side in particular is a giant wall of seats. Lovely.

The seats in the corner sections are so comfortable compared to the Coliseum; thanks to the 20" height from row to row your knees aren't jammed against the seat in front of you. Perfect views from up top, without being vertigo-inducing or too far back like many of the bigger arenas.

Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Great time.

I like your choice in seats!

I'm going the flex ticket route this year but I'm a few rows behind you. Gonna be a fun season.

All the main concession spaces along the concourse appear corporate (I think SMG will operate them, but I am not sure). The only other space currently constructed is Goji's, although there is a banner along the concourse for Tim Horton's stating "coming soon". I'm sure other concessions will be coming in the near future, especially beer concessions.

Avenir Center

When the word Avenir appears, I do not relate to hearing issues. Avenir in English means Future in Spanish Futuro. Words can become a conflict of interest if you let them. Avenir in Spanish is to reconcile or to bring together.

Avenir is a name that will grow with the community. The city should add something to the name since this modern facility will be shared by all 3 or 4 provinces. The addition of another word; Centre Maritime Avenir Centre or Centre Atlantic (Atlantique) (Atlantico) Avenir Centre, wil make the title more clear. They should have made the facility a bit larger to accommodate more seating, however what is done is done. A similar issue we had with the Coliseum. Moncton is more central to most of the urban centres that relates to the greatest draw of any city in Atlantic Canada.

When we break down language barriers all things are possible. Avenir to bring together a concert, a game or even a convention in the future is what this centre is about.

Pumphouse has set up shop. They are the second or third vendor in the concourse going in the clockwise direction.

Well...I took a tour Saturday afternoon and went back this afternoon because I wanted to look over every other nook & cranny places I missed on Sat.

I paid special attention to every little details. I got to say, I am extremely impressed with what I saw. We should all be very proud.

Seats: There are 3 types. Padded, non padded and the retractable. They are all very good. Lots of leg room, perfect incline, acceptable width. The plastic seats are surprisingly very comfortable.
Sound system from overhead speakers: Very very nice sound.
Scoreboard: Top of the line
Corporate boxes: Wow! Very nice
Bathrooms: Lots of them all around the concourse.
Parking: I didn't hear any complaints.

I could go on and on about how amazing this place is. I think Moncton has scored BIG time! I know I have found my happy place just 8 minutes away from my front door.

I don"t understand the more seating arguement. They have all the seating they need to attract any event Moncton can realistically land. Thats proven by landing both Keith Urban & UFC. You do not want an issue where the building is 2/3 empty for hockey games and concerts because they made it too big. It makes for a poor atmosphere and creates too much supply. Im glad they removed seats in favour of comfort. It means more people will come back. A bigger building was never the concern. Modern amenities & a higher ceiling was.

The open house was a clever way to push more ticket sales. The box office looked very busy for the duration that I was there. Once people got to use the facilities & realize how lucky we are they wanted to be there for an event to see it in full action.

You're right. I got a Chicago, Mellencamp and Wild Cats season opener tickets.

When I went to the events centre Saturday I parked at the shoppers by sobeys. I noticed that a lot of people parked there, sobeys and tangerine cause the gates were open. I know for a fact that sobeys will have security guards so people can't park there on concert and cats night but I don't know about shoppers or tangerine. As said previously, not a lot of people complained about parking this weekend but going forward it could be different as there will be limited spaces nearby. Does anyone knows if heritage court parking and tangerine office lot will let event goers have access ?

I agree that it is still too early to predict what the parking situation will be but there were not 10,000 people in the events centre all at the same time during the open house, and it'll be more than just Sobeys employing security guards on game and events nights.

The lot in behind 1234 Main (Tangerine) has been secured by the Wildcats for season ticket holders (yearly paid parking). The Wildcats have also locked up the lot in behind Investors Group on Main, and behind the federal building on Main. This still only takes care of about half their season ticket base however........

As a HC worker I'll keep the forum updated if I see any changes before the Keith Urban concert. I can oversee the HC lot as well as the events centre from my office window so I might stay late and watch what happens. As of this moment there is no gates installed with 3 days to go, they do have a security working 24/7 but they only monitor the large lot during the day to make sure no one is in the red or blue painted spaces without a pass. I think they'd be crazy not to put up gates & charge 5 dollars for parking after 5:30 pm when the lot is mostly empty.

I was on PEI but my friends went to the opening and said they loved the center, especially the seats which are comfortable and with leg room. I asked about parking and they parked 4 blocks away up Highfield. They were ok with that as it was a nice day but were a bit concerned as this was an opening event with maybe a couple of thousand people at any given time so who knows for a sellout what it means.

Also, I don't like the name because it doesn't flow off the tongue like so many of the other arenas out there. I don't know about the rest of you but "avenir" is a word I never use as a francophone and it doesn't resemble any English word which will make it harder on them. Someone mentioned calling it the Avee, I'll go even shorter and refer to it as the 'Av.

I'm lazy, so I'm just going to call it The Aven't Centre.

Regarding parking, I took the blue line bus from the mall. Took 15 min but felt like 5. Definitely the way I will be using to get there.

Spoke to a Codiac rep at the open house and he said that on big shows, they will put on extra buses and it'll be free after 10pm.
