because The City stopped power washing the streets in the mornings like they do in most other cities as a way to clean them off and move the homeless out of doorways of business.

On the Avigilon Building, blue cladding has been wrapped around the struts for the awning and each has an LED strip at the bottom.
The Robson entrance has also been framed in blue cladding and has an LED strip framing the entrance.

I wonder how much longer the crane will be on top of the old Telus building on Seymour Street. From my window I can see a bit of what appears to be a temporary tent-like structure on the roof.

Unfortunately, no matter how nice they make this alley look, it will never be usable due to the atrocious cooking smells vented from Jinya. I can't stand to walk up the alley, let alone hang out. That proposed 'wine bar' must be DOA, as nobody would choose to sit there smelling that hideous odor. (The food at Jinya tastes good, but the venting fumes are wholly different).

The alley is still way better than the one found behind the Orpheum. Jinya's kitchen fumes smell way better than pee or pot. The kitchen fume smell also doesn't go down the entire laneway. Put in some push carts for vendors or hawkers to sell stuff on the alleyway and we get instant vibrancy!

I overheard someone say that the other retail space on Robson in the Avigilon Building (next to the alley) will be occupied by a vitamin store.

Who goes in unsolicited with a bid enticing enough to sell. Especially when it comes to Telus selling its much hyped DT headquarters.

Oh they finally announced the possible buyers.

Greystone dials in
A partnership of domestic institutional investors represented by Regina-based Greystone Managed Investments Inc. is the new owner of Telus Garden, which sold August 8.

The purchase price has yet to be disclosed. Telus Corp., which partnered with Westbank Corp. on the mixed-use development, expects to reap proceeds of approximately $170 million from the sale.

Those proceeds will be funnelled to what Telus described in a note to BIV last week as “crucial social purpose initiatives.”

“The distinct purpose behind the sale is that we can take our gain and reinvest it in the creation of a sustainable funding model in support of our crucial social purpose initiatives,” it said. “We look forward to sharing more information regarding this inspiring philanthropic initiative in the months to come.”

In the meantime, Greystone itself is the target of a purchase. On July 11, TD Bank Group announced an agreement to pay $792 million for Greystone’s parent company, Greystone Capital Management Inc. Pending regulatory approval, the new firm will be known as TD Greystone Asset Management.
