These UIC buildings will not only boost the University’s standing, but I believe they all eat up surface parking, which is nice

I mean, I will go, and give them my $12, but not spontaneously like I used to. They better have good rotating exhibits.
Entrance to the gift shop does not require admission. . .

I used to be a member. Might renew. Just frustrating that I can no longer simply pop in to gaze at the model for 5-15 minutes, hit the book shop, and be back at my office in 45 minutes.

I was a Docent back in the day. The day being when the CAF was at the Monadnock, and the Glessner and Clarke houses were a part of the organization.

I just paid my $12. It is a nice (small) museum, worth the $12 and a yearly visit.

My wife and I went to the new CAF Center also this weekend. Pretty cool new map and new location. The video that plays with the new city model is a bit over the top with it's city history/storytelling but still cool in my book.

Roots Pizza is negotiating with Landmarks staff over a two-story building at the NWC Polk & Dearborn. I'm very surprised that pencils out given (what I presume) the land cost.

So within a block or so will be Art of Pizza, Lou Malnatis, Pauly's Pizza, Gino's East and now a new place? Printer's Row is becoming Pizza Row.

Don't forget Pat's which you could hit with a rock from this location if you lob it over the existing buildings.

Is Roots the same outfit that was involved in an earlier scheme for this site that would have put the restaurant on the roof of a rental building?

Yeah, I forgot about Blaze too... (and I guess 7-11, but not quite the same thing)

Yes.

Beyond the high-profile Old Town project, Mohr and Weiner are readying other ventures. A fourth, supersized Roots Pizza will open in the South Loop next summer. The 11,000-square-foot, two-story restaurant will sit atop a 15-story luxury micro-apartment building going up at Dearborn and Polk streets.
I do not recall any news regarding that project recently, and the site remains vacant without any activity. I assume the article is not mistakenly referring to retail space in the under-construction single family home across Dearborn since that will cover only a single floor.
