Yeah,

When I walked by a week or two ago, the site was fenced off and demo looked imminent.

WeWork is expanding to RiNo:

One interesting tidbit I got from that article is that they are looking at the Revolution360 project, which means that project is still alive apparently. I had assumed it had faded out.

SkyHouse has just been sold by Simpson Property Group to EQR.

Also, if anyone wants to check out Mill Creek's construction cams, go here: https://app.oxblue.com/open/mcrtrust/allcams

The new LoHi camera isn't up yet, but the Capitol Hill and West Wash Park cameras are.

Interesting, but if WeWork does want anything more than a floor, that and the World Trade Center are the only projects along Brighton that are reasonably close to starting that would meet that requirement I believe. North Wynkoop isn't slated to deliver any of its large office components until after 2020, right?

Good question.....

I know the music venue is going up right now at North Wynkoop, but I am not sure what else is technically under construction with that development.

I have to wonder about WeWork and how prepared they will be for the next big downturn. Recently it was reported that WeWork is about to become the largest single office space leasor in Manhattan!

Its Denver growth has been similarly explosive. That's great for now, but one reason they are so successful is because tenants LOVE the short team leases and flexibility and putting the market risk of a downturn on WeWork instead of the tenant.

That's all fine, but WeWork better have the business plan and financial wherewithal to make it through the next downturn when vacancy rates shoot up, and prices fall, otherwise we will be talking about the WeWork bubble!

Yeah I had heard this one will start early next year and that parking will be in a garage on Wynkoop. There is also a multi-family project currently U/C to the east at 36th & Wynkoop.

It should make quite an impact on the streetscape:

If you showed me this photo 10 years ago, I would have said you are a witch and that this kind of development in such a short amount of time is not possible.

I'm pretty happy with this list for a first round. All mostly local places, and places I would take the time to stop at if I had the time at the airport.
All those places suck and the renovation is a waste of money.

I disagree, this is a much-needed facelift for the front door to the airport. Still not fully clear on how the new security checkpoints will work but it sounds like it will be better than the current setup and will actually cause the Great Hall to be used instead of just a pass-through.

I'm happy that they are targeting mostly local places, would love to see a Rosenberg's bagel shop along with some of the "pop up" food vendors that are in Grand Central Market, Zeppelin Station and Milk Market like Bao Chicka Bao, High Point Creamery, Izzio's Bakery, Namkeen and Injoi Korean Kitchen.

I think the whole vision of turning the airport into a 'destination' is completely misguided and counterproductive. A good traveler experience is getting in and out of the airport as efficiently as possible, with decent amenities for long layover or delays (at the concourse). If you want to improve the traveler experience I guess go ahead and invest in new concessions on the concourses (a la the recent concourse addition at LAX), but whats the point of throwing this money at the terminal? Make the improvements to the security checkpoints but dont waste great hall money, which travelers generally wont even be able to use.

And this is certainly subjective but I find it a much more pleasant experience arriving to a bright an open atrium (current situation) than a noisy indoor version of the sixteenth street mall (future situation).

What's your idea of arrival? I haven't arrived at the airport until I'm past security (which seems to be the philosophy here). Then I get the bright open atrium with shopping experiences and everything else to tie me over until my departure (theoretically). And I'd probably explore the terminal options if I was on an extended layover, which is what a shit-ton of people who are at DEN are.

Plus this reduces the chance of a mass casualty attack on the security lines. Pre-screened passengers are more secure and security has less space to cover in order to protect the screening areas.

I think maybe we are referring to 'arrival' in different contexts.

My understanding is the great hall will still be on the 'public' side of things, before security. So if a traveler wants to enjoy it during a layover they have to go out and deal with the security CF all over again (and make the line longer for the rest of us). My whole point is this only makes sense to do on the 'traveller' side of the security check.

That's not the case, it will be in the secured area. You will go through security on the edges. So when you arrive on the train you won't have the gaggle of people waiting around at the top of the escalators, they'll be somewhere else.

My understanding is that the Great Hall will be split- you'll have a landside component, but 2/3 of it will be airside.

This article is talking about condos making a comeback:

https://www.bizjournals.com/denver/news/2018/09/06/denver-condo-supply-construction-law-reform.html

The thing I find interesting is in the slideshow. It's the first I have heard of the Zia project, along with that Sloan's Lake concept they show.

I just want to make a note here that the terminal was originally intended to be an area for travelers to relax and hang out pre-9/11. Most all new concessions will be post-security in the terminal once the new Automated screening machines are installed and up and running on the 6th level of the terminal. So travelers will then have the choice of hanging in the terminal or heading to their concourse and hanging there before their flight. Concessions are a big reason why it is so cheap to fly into Denver. More concessions dollars = lower landing and parking fees for airlines, hence the additional focus on adding new vendors.

Side note, the new automated screening machine that has been installed for testing along side the existing screening in north security should be up and running next week. If anyone is flying out and doesn't use TSA pre-check, I would love to hear your experience!
