I speculate and could very well be wrong that the army of people needed to get all this done are migrant workers, some of whom were laid off from the oil fields when barrel prices plummeted.

Its everyone else that is struggling. All trades are maxed out, and not enough kids want to actually work with their hands.

The labour shortage is having a real effect here.

The Alberta worker is a non factor here - most jobs pay less money with no paid overtime. Add to that most days you work OT, and the cost of living is much higher than Alberta.

I see this kind of thing in various places around town now. Drought stressed trees that have turned brown early. Maybe it's dead, maybe it'll come back next spring. Maybe they'll wait a year or two to find out, like they did with the Eugenia tree down at English Bay.

There were multiple trees atop the Independent tower at Kingsway and Broadway that turned brown this summer. They were removed and the little forest on top of the tower has big gaps in it now. I hope they put some replacements in when the weather gets cool and damp.

What is so difficult about throwing a few buckets of water on these trees each day to get them through the summer? This tree should have also had a few gator bags around the base just to be sure. Every tree I've seen with the watering bags has done well.

Has Tower 2 top up yet? Last time Tower 1 had a top up ceremony.
Nice to see Tower 3 actually has 3 floor$ now. Once all 3 Towers built up . Will make a huge impact to this area.

I think tower 2 still has a ways to go yet, but getting close. Should be the same height as tower 1.

That species is also at 888 Hamilton, and there are some by the alley that regularly go brown in late spring than revive for summer - so I've seen that species revive.

Yes, they've squeezed two lanes in each direction onto the south side of Lougheed. Quite the mess at ground level with that and all the sidewalk construction.

Its hard to believe the retail portion of this build is finally coming to a close.

I cant imagine the mall actually open and functioning - but look forward to it being so.

I'm with you, I can't wait either lol

But I still think we're conservatively 6-8months away from the new mall being open for business...
