I haven't heard a thing, but the RCMP wants the HQ downtown, and not too far from the law courts, so this would be a good location. I personally was wondering about the NE corner of King & Main, but that's nothing more than a hunch.

That’s a good location. I think NE corner of Vaughan Harvey & Assumption, or thinking big picture, build a Rogers call centre parking garage between Lutz & Robinson and building the RCMP station where the Rogers parking lot is. I don’t know much about this parking agreement the city has with Rogers, but since the RCMP is federal, could the government not just expropriate the land there anyway if that’s the site they choose?

Those are 3 awesome buildings right there. Completely different feeling being downtown. I was there myself today. Now they just need to redo the outside of The Crown and fill that empty office building at 1222 Main so they have a reason to redo that one too! Putting something in place of that old building in between Sobeys and the events center would help as well! Complete rebuild

The Moncton Motel, and suites (61 Weldon Street) owner had the parking, and 2 houses across the street for sale, and now the Motel has gone up for sale at the low ball price of 1,790,000$ I'm guessing the money is not in the building but the massive Downtown lot it sits on. I wonder if it will sell quick at such a low price.

Anyone know what is going on with the Honda dealership expansion on west Main? Work seems to have been stalled for quite some time now.

The federal building looks quite awesome actually, that block has become really nice. Waiting for the Crown upgrade now, I'm sure it's bound to happen.

It's actually Midtown, not Moncton. The owner bought the Comfort inn on West Main which is now a Motel 6 so maybe he wants to concentrate on that site instead? I find it weird since you'd think the Midtown would now get a lot more business form hockey games, etc. There are going to be plenty of nicer hotels in the area so a lower cost motel might be a good option for those who can't afford the Hyatt or the Crowne.

Triangles to close

The only legitimate LGBTQ Bar In Moncton Triangles is set to close it's doors at the end of the Month Triangles was known as "La cave a pape" Before it was purchased in 1995, and renamed Triangles a legitimate gay bar that was owned by members of the LGBTQ Community.

On another note it's my understanding that the couple has tried to sell the bar to another LGBTQ+ Business owner but to no avail. Probably because of issues that have happen within the lifetime the bar has been open. Most of the claims fabricated by Homophobic religious groups, and others where placed on the bar despite the establishment having no connection to the incident in question. Mostly issues that happen at Voodoo that had no affiliation with Triangles.

Is there still a need for an LGBTQ bar? I think one reason they are selling is that this is no longer needed as people are more accepting and the lifestyle is now all around us. Not to mention are there any bars at all left in Moncton? If "straight" bars that cater to the majority of the population can't compete, how could a bar catering to a "niche" survive?

Here's an old article I read which I found interesting https://www.wired.com/story/why-teens-arent-partying-anymore/. People don't drink and party nearly as much as they used to and have instead become slaves to their social media devices.

I guess work must be about to start on Parc le Sommet in front of the Centre Culturel Aberdeen. There is fencing around the area which has been recently installed.

I've always said they should put it where the 'jail' was between Downing and the Court house, underground tunnel for transfer of prisoners from HQ to courthouse.

That just seems like a logical space for it or am I crazy?

I think they cut down some of the trees today, or those might have been the trees they cut down after a storm earlier this year that they where finally removing They seem to also be clearing out some of the shrubs as well they really want to lighten up on the landscaping, and open up the view so that police will more easily see if there are people in the park shooting up, or just causing vandalism.

Why not have the police actually get out of their cars and walk through the park instead of cutting all the trees and bushes away so they can just drive by?

Quite logical, and this was always my favourite option too.

The trouble is that this will eventually be the NW corner of the Downing/Assumption intersection (once they finish converting Downing into a traffic separated shared roadway). Downing is envisaged by the city as the showpiece of the eastern end of the downtown core and the main pedestrian connector between Main Street, City Hall Plaza and the Riverfront Park. The city wants something more — for this corner than a police station.

If you look at the vision plans for Downing, they show a new city market and perhaps a relocated public library immediately across Downing from the Blue Cross Centre. Further down Downing, closer to the riverfront, they envisage a highrise condo building with ground floor retail/commercial development.

The police station will have to go elsewhere.

As per the above, this is what the city envisages for the west side of Downing Street

Bus Terminal Now Modern Office
(T&T - September 23rd)
https://www.telegraphjournal.com/telegra...s-atlantic-platinum-realty-shift-central (paywall)

All T&T photos

Tenants currently include Colliers International, Platinum Atlantic Realty and Shift Central. There is space for two additional tenants.

While the reconversion has been nicely done, I personally believe that an opportunity has been lost here to build a nice mid rise (4-6 storey) office building that would have nicely connected a corridor between Main Street and St. George St. in the downtown east end (in the first photo above, you can see the top of FiveFive Queen poking above of the old bus terminal building). A larger project certainly would have been more impactful for this part of the city.........

Still no movement visible on Tannery Place South at the Junction Urban Village.

I think it's safe to say that they will miss their Fall 2019 proposed opening date.

I can't help but wonder if this project is in some jeopardy........
