I guess demand for condo units, or expensive singles, will determine that. Given the big plans at Lebreton, Zibi, and elsewhere it might be awhile before we see dramatic changes in Little Italy.
The key will be to manage that redevelopment in a way that won't kill the charm of Little Italy. Ideally, Preston Street would be limited to low-rise (up to 4 storey) dwellings, and leave the high-rise towers to the fringes such as on Champagne Street and along Carling (such as the former Dow Honda site). That way, Preston can grow its street life rather than killing it.
