Both will be built simultaneously. Site prep and demo of the small buildings on the parcel will start Q1.

Sweet. This is one of my more favorable supertalls that's in the pipeline in the US. I hate that modern architecture is trending away from setbacks, so it's nice to see this one keeping with that style and doing it so nicely.

Wow! Great news!
It occurred to me that just the 690' tower would be a big deal for the location. The fact that we are getting both that and a supertall is epic! I'm looking forward to this one.

Excellent news. This is not too much of a surprise with the success JDL has had with No. 9 Walton. In May, Chicago Business reported that tower had more than 20 $3 million+ condo sales in that building alone.

Well yes. The minimum price for a condo at No. 9 Walton went for just over $3M this makes sense and there's been 21 of those sales since mid March alone. There was a sale of nearly $6M the other day there. I think the building is actually sold out now or nearly sold out. Jason Heyward, Omer Asik, Ken Griffin, etc have all bought here.

This will be the first time that two supertalls are under construction at the same time (that actually finish construction) since Sears and Aon.

^ well, that extremely important caveat in parenthesis we can't yet know.

it wasn't all that long ago that there were THREE super-talls under construction in chicago, and then........... much disappointment.

2008 was a bad year for high rise construction but this is great news. Now if Related can get the old Spire site started this would be an all time high for Chicago. And Chicago's skysrapers have some meat on their bones unlike other cities recent skinny ass skyscrapers.

true. if the report about financing is correct, then OCS is on a far more stable footing than the spire or waterview ever were.

i just have superstitions regarding the counting of eggs and chickens.

but i would agree, this all sounds very promising.
