Say what you will about the arrangement of colour and material, this is still far preferable to a generic green tower. Especially at street level, it's important that each retail section differs from the next, so if there's a hodge podge of colour and materials at street level then that's fine. All the streets that people like to shop at or go out for food or drinks at are a "mess" of different colours and materials.
On the Kingsway side I would have preferred yellow brick over the glass spandrel, but it's still better than most retail facade treatment.
This building and all its parts were a little odd at first but seeing it everyday it more or less seems more normal and in its place. The street activation will be a plus.
The tower is a mess. The podium/low-rise portions have some redeeming qualities, but the tower is a hodgepodge of cheap looking materials and scatterbrained compromises.
Interesting. I actual quite like it now that it's façade is up. Fits the hodgepodge neighbourhood and looks quite good from every angle as a whole building. What makes it distinct is that it doesn't look like it came from another neighbourhood. It looks like Main and Kingsway.
I won't say I love it, but I do like it. It is the most prominent and modern building in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. I hope it sets a precedence for future construction around there.
