If you're buyin a new home, you certainly can pay the extra to have all four sides finished in the same material -problem is most people don't want to pay for those extras.
As far as treeless, you are aware that every lot is required and does get a tree planted in the front? Hell, my 1955 community was completely devoid of trees when it was built and you'd never be able to tell now.
