You can still book a room at that hotel 50 weeks out which is June 2019. 50 weeks out seems to be a standard Extended Stay booking practice. The hotel will probably not announce their closing until it's imminent. It's dump as it is, and they won't publicize the fact that it is closing for demo which would turn off even more customers than already are based on their online reviews. No demo permits have been filed yet, but I would expect something to be filed soon based on the site plan progress.

There wasn't too much news in this week's AULCC postings. But the site plan for 600 Guadalupe was posted again because there is a meeting coming about this project's Great Streets plans. Detailed plans about the Great Street plans are on pages 54-58 of the site plan.

That was just some fun on my part. There is no connection to Launderette. Additionally, that image was never intended for the public anyway.

But yes, Launderette is amazing. I used to live right down the street from it.

We've been through this before. It's 848'. Look at the elevations yourself!. The 837' is the median height from "grade" (which fluctuates quite a bit across the site). The tower is 848' tall from its lowest point to its highest.

As pointed out before, the elevations for this building were unique in that they list the lowest and highest ground sea level elevation of the site. Most just use the average sea level elevation to list the building's height, which, in this case, is 838 feet. The lowest ground sea level elevation to the top of the building is 828 feet while the highest is 848 feet. The average is 838. Some sources are using the lowest while some have used the average. I suppose the most "fair" number compared to other projects is to go with the 838 foot number, however, you'd be overlooking the fact that there is a side of the building where you'd be standing 10 feet lower from that point. It's like standing next to your house and saying it's 6 feet shorter because you were standing up instead of laying on the ground.

On this forum we seem to always list the height as measured from the lowest point on the site to the tallest point of the building/screen/crown/spire. I believe the CTBUH standard is from the lowest point on the side of the building that has a public entrance to the tallest point of the building/screen/crown/spire. I don't know if that changes things much. We're not talking about significant differences here.

We live in a society where everything is compared to its similar counterpart. Like it or not - it is what it is. As an example, a "few feet" could cost a tower to loose it's status of being the tallest in a city, state, country, or planet. It could cost a tower's stature of being the tallest all residential building, tallest office, or tallest hotel within a particular set of parameters.

Yes, a few feet can be a big deal - and mean a lot.
