If Rahm can also wrangle more money out of the feds to expand and further renovate then go for it.
Remember, the 10M is in addition to what the vendors will be spending on their own properties, and it's in addition to what the Vista developers will be spending on their Riverwalk connection, including the glass elevator.

Didn't anyone read the article? It's all in there

Welcome to the boring, tedious confines of the new Wrigleyville
http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/ct-ae-wrigleyville-20180805-story.html

Christopher Borrelli

It takes a lot to miss the days of undergraduate vomit splashed against a curb. It takes a lot to make a person pine for fast-food restaurant booths at 2 a.m. full of — punk bands from Des Moines. Or to long to hear terrible white blues bands spilling out of dumb bars again. Or to wish the pavement smelled like cheap beer every Sunday morning, or that every storefront looked as if it were operated by your sketchiest of sketchy cousins.

And yet that’s the kind of perverse melancholy I feel when I visit Wrigleyville these days.

No thanks. I don't plan to give more money into the toilet that is the CTU, as you are proposing.

$10M is a sensible investment in our Riverwalk. Its rising popularity, along with rents from the concessionaires, will more than repay that investment over the years.

It could use some touch-up and access improvements, but I actually find the eastern riverwalk section much more inviting. Less highfalutin and overbuilt. Instead, simple and green. A nice contrast with the west. I hope it retains that basic character.

This will only be cosmetic, but the restaurants will be spending more money on top of this to upgrade from their "container" aesthetic to actual restaurants with real bathrooms and plumbing.

This needed to happen to match the high quality of the Riverwalk further west.
Wonderful indeed! The Riverwalk is one of my favorite places to take tourists when visiting our city. It is a true gem. To be surrounded by active restaurants, a canyon of buildings, zero cars and only boats passing by; there is nothing else like it. It has become one of the best places to enjoy a "Bottle-a beer" as Ol' Mayre Daley envisioned back on Jan 28, 1975 (a great sound bite) I say invest $20 million more into it! We'll get that back ten-fold.

I'm completely with you! I enjoy the more laid back nature of the Island Hut bar area. Provide people with a bit of both worlds. Can have the more upscale River North type section further west and a casual/natural stretch as well. Some touching up certainly wouldn't hurt though. Given the way Chicago spends on projects $10m probably wont even buy the shovels and grass seed.

I feel like there are far worse offenders being constructed along the blue line to care much about this one, especially considering it'll add some nice height to the area.

Going over the WLCO recommendations a little more closely though I'm surprised they complimented the auto court and made the recommendation to make it more visible. Wish these people had more sense.

With this new crop of proposals the West Loop Boom continues to push West.

Walked by it this past weekend.

Tower crane is up and they've got a decent sized hole in the ground going. Looks like they're still doing foundation work.

^^^ Count me vastly under-impressed - we would probably do better putting it out as a CPS competition.

It never looks as good in person as it does in Solar's shots.
