So the retail/mall section are calling themselves "the amazing Brentwood"? Ugh they have to drop the amazing from the name now!

Yes.

Not sure why they are so keen on keeping the "amazing" part.

They can grab more foot traffic and market this way. Supermart and cinema primarily, then retail and food, and perhaps a gym?

If a Saks is opening in Brentwood, it'd be nicer if it were Saks itself or something else akin to it and not a sorry discount version. Lol. It'd be kinda disappointing if after all the hype, the place ends up with a discount retail store/department store at its opening of an anchor tenant.

I'm eager to know which other retailers/food places will open at Brentwood. Sporting Life seems like a very interesting store/concept. Can't wait for the new commercial portion to open. And curious as to what the south east portion will eventually be (in another 5-10 years maybe? another long wait... pfftt.). The first portion is taking long enough. Lol!

On a side note, Muji's expanding in Metrotown. That's kinda amazing. I hadn't thought they'd do very well so soon that they decided they need to expand. Lol. It's not really an average dollar store even. Burnaby's really growing... wow.
I'm sure for being the newest mall in Metro Van area, it will attract the nicest tenants to go in. I'm sure management will reject all those cheap-looking discount stores, with the exception of perhaps Winners.

I really hope they are not planning on keeping the Amazing part of the name.

Hmmm, which is worse as a prefix:
"CF" or "Amazing"?

There's already a Winners-Homesense presence nearby, across Whole Foods. And I admittedly am not one of those who enjoy shopping at Winners or its like. It's ok but not something to get excited about. Kinda messy. I think they are supplied by vendors/liquidators, with returned goods from other stores that contract out to these vendors the returned items they don't bother putting back on their shelves. hehe.

The "Amazing" bit in the name established name recall though, due to its awkwardness (or is it awfulness? Lol!). Such a mouthful too.

Combine the two

"The Amazing CF ____"
"CF Amazing _____ Centre"

That would be awesome. Another reason to go hang out at Brentwood area.

The Winners at Madison Centre is pretty small.

I would expect a larger replacement store, or an additional HomeSense or Marshalls to be built somewhere in Brentwood
- maybe at Gilmore Place if not at The Amazing Brentwood?

City of Lougheed had accidentally posted plans showing both Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off 5th
- so I doubt those would also appear at The Amazing Brentwood.

A La Maison Simons perhaps? Better still, bring in some European or Japanese department store, like a Galeries Lafayette?

That's surprising they wouldnt want to bring Nordstrom and Saks to Brentwood, Lougheed is much further out to completion.

The first few tenant announcements are hopeful, but I'm getting nervous, still a lot of space to fill.

Nordstrom Rack and Saks off Fifth are not Nordstrom and Saks... not even close.

The 'rack' stores in Canada have not been performing well, will be interesting to see if they continue their pace of expansion.

I would say that's because Nordstrom Rack prices are more expensive than other off-price chains like Winners and Marshalls and they have more conservative styles (or used to).

Even Hudson's Bay has lower prices when items are on sale (frequently).
Selection / brands would be different, but I don't think Canadians are all that brand conscious if an item looks good.

I rarely buy anything at Nordstrom Rack.

********

I would guess that The Amazing Brentwood is the higher positioned of the 2 Shape projects,
especially since the plans for City of Lougheed don't show a future department store anchor.

The Amazing Brentwood still sounds better than the current name, Brentwood Town Centre.

No it doesn't it sounds stupid. If something is amazing it doesn't need to be stated in its name

I thought it was originally used as a marketing ploy to sell condos. Now the "amazing" moniker seems to have taken a life of its own...

News articles and other websites are calling it that now ugh

I went to a mall in Australia, in Perth, that reminded me a bit of Brentwood, it had a similiar fabric roof. It had 4 Grocery stores in it! a Coles, Woolworths, IGA and an Aldi and all were busy, I think people are loyal to their choice. I don't think I've ever been to a mall with more than 1 grocery store.

Anyway some of the suburban malls I went to in Australia are full of high end brands. I went to the largest mall in Australia in Melbourne, Chadstone. It has every high end brand and the missing ones were on their way like Hermes & Piaget. They have Prada, Gucci, Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Moncler, Miu Miu, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Laboutin, Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Furla, Valentino, Red Valentino, Loewe, Bottega Venetta, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Emporio Armani, Armani kids, Omega, Rolex and more but most of them had velvet ropes outside them and both Louis Vuitton and Gucci had long line ups to get into the stores and the stores inside looked very busy. Also had Coach, Michael Kors, Rag & Bone, Chloe, COS, Diesel, GStar and Superdry which has stores everywhere.
The customers were pretty much all chinese they definately cater to the tourist market there. Most of these brands also have stores downtown.

some pics
In a lot of malls they have stand alone stores for Chanel and Dior that just sell the beauty products and Fragrances, I could see them opening that concept at Brentwood.
This Chanel beauty store was located across from Sephora.

Line up outside LV

the lineup outside Gucci

Metrotown has Superstore and T&T. Also a few other stores carry some groceries, although they're not grocery stores.
