LOL, that was my reaction too - I looked at the buildings first, then had to do a quick double check to make sure the millennium line was there!

ONNI wouldn't waste any money to obtain a newer photo when demand is still this high.

By the way, does anyone know if City of Burnaby is doing anything to prevent future flooding in the Still Creek & Gilmore area?

Whoever got in at these prices are lucky. Chances are slim that anyone rescinds. Based on what solo District 3 just sold for low $800k for 2 bed and $600k for 1 beds these units are a steal.

I really like the fact that it’s just not 3 towers going up but there is commercial and retail attached to the towers and skytrain.

Irks me greatly that how come so many local people do not know of the sales, boom and bang suddenly 2 towers already sold out. Where are do those people who bought the first 2 towers come from??

Two words:

Family.
Friends.

It's all about who you know in the pre-sales team.
Sad to say.
The notion of "opening" up the units for sales to the public is a bit of a joke since by then most of the units have already been apportioned to the F&F "VIPs".
The whole thing is a farce IMO, and there's nothing anyone really can do about it except hope to get lucky.

Why?
So as not to be misrepresentative of the neighbourhood in its marketing materials....?

Lol, Burnaby isn't gonna spend a penny if it doesn't have to. But they do have a new works yard there so who knows...

ONNI wouldn't spend any money on proper material and quality control when demand is this high. You see it keeps going if you don't take pride in your product and service.

Thinking people are lucky at these price points is a matter of opinion. I think the opposite personally and also am of the opinion that lots of people have lost track of reality, particularly those neck deep in the market.

Actually, Burnaby has designated this site specifically as a "Brentwood Area Flood Overflow Zone". Basically when there's a flood, the water will be directed to the Gilmore Place parkade. Owners should beware that their cars may be submerged during the winter months in order to keep the rest of the area dry.

I don't know about you but that sure makes Amazing Brentwood and SOLO District much more appealing than this development.

That looks to be about 2008 or 2009 ish? The towers on the NW side of Lougheed and Willingdon are there, and the HOV ramp on Hwy #1 is under construction.

That area of the highway was almost done when I did road painting in summer 2009.

That is most certainly not how marketing works, even in a hot market.

The reason you see more extensive marketing centres than ever before are because they drive higher prices despite high demand.

The old picture was very deliberately used as it shows less view blocking from adjacent properties. Most developers don't like to market their competitors either.

It's also the same reason they use (misleading) renderings showing their tower like it's standing alone in an open park instead of the reality (in most places) which is that it will be surrounded by towers all-around it and that you'll have almost no clear views from your unit.

If anyone wants a good laugh, they should take a look at Midori's rendering at Metrotown that gave no hint that it would be fronted by both MET Towers and the Park Tower facing (blocking) Nelson street and Bonsor park, and that by the time all is said and down there will probably be an additional two towers - albeit slightly shorter(one to its North and one to it's North-East across from Malborough) not counting Vittorio and Imperial to its immediate South.
In other words, it will enitrely be surrounded by towers on almost every adjacent block when all is said and done.

Well That's weird. They don't mention how two of the towers in phase one are already sold out before they even start marketing it

They sound pretty ambitious about the GEC Education tower in Surrey going through as well.

They've been marketing phase one for well over a year now.

Where? Haven't seen anything on their website. The only thing it says it "coming soon".

They haven't marketed it heavily for sure but I've seen print ads for quite a while now. There's also this website.
