326 parking spaces. Looks like its next to Shops On Fremont and it's called Fremont Square. If my calculations are correct, it might involve demolishing buildings like the one for VIP Gentlemans Club.

I'll have more info later.
Does that mean these two are canceled? Or is this a new taller version of the same project?

Looks to be a modification to that rendering. ~7 floors retail on Kingsbury, tower on Fremont, and the Firestone replaced with ~3 floor retail.

No, I looked at it. There is no demolition.

In fact the one story buildings, including the Firestone shop and its parking lot, and the Williams Sonoma and Anthropologie and their parking lot, and the DSW mall and some of its parking, will be preserved in perpetuity.

All the construction is on two parking lots and to get the FAR needed, they sucked all the unused FAR from those other parcels.

EDIT: Just double checked. Chiplanner is right. The Firestone goes to three stories, but their parking lot remains.

That's going to partially block the views from the third floor parking lot of the Whole Foods.

I agree its a great location to hopefully watch the implosion of that MF Rainforest Café. I mean really are they still around like Applebee's and Pondarosa, and the Sizzler? Actually its more akin to a Planet Hollywood, Fashion Café, or some restaurant chain based upon the Jurassic Park movie theme series. I don't even think exurbanites would ever go there.

I guess there really is such a place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Rex_(restaurant). Sounds more tacky than Chuck E Cheezes

T-Rex Cafe is a prehistoric themed restaurant that includes a gift shop, along with animatronic dinosaurs that move and roar. T-Rex Cafe has differently-themed restaurant sections, such as prehistoric insects (which includes enlarged animatronic insects), ice age (which includes ice caves and animatronic mammoths), and under the sea (complete with jellyfish ceiling and large aquarium). In the dinosaur-themed area, a gift shop allows customers to "Build-A-Dino", which is provided by Build-A-Bear Workshop, who works in partnership with T-Rex.
T-Rex Cafe is owned by Landry's, Inc., in Katy, Texas. Landry's went private in 2010 when Tilman Fertitta, the CEO of Landry's and a large shareholder, made an offer to buy all shares. Landry's is no longer traded on the NYSE.
The first T-Rex Cafe restaurant opened in The Legends Outlets Kansas City in Kansas City, Kansas, followed by the opening of another at Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) in Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida on October 17, 2008. (It appears to have been themed around The Rite of Spring segment of Fantasia.
The Kansas City, Kansas location closed on August 12, 2017 after the landlord declined to renew T-Rex's lease
Any Noah's ark restaurant chain can stay below the Mason Dixion line please.

Talk about a tourist trap. Get that 🞵🞵🞵🞵 in bodunk somewhere else, you travel around the USA or world and would go to that place? I hate Chain food. 95% of it is literally not edible to adults with a proper palette. Mabey they could build a rotating restaurant on a Skydeck that would be a novel concept.

This will be huge for the area and I like that. Now I just wish something significant can go at the Cabrini site.

I'd say its much lower than 95%... most are chains because they are successful and good restaurants, now the mass produced microwave garbage like applebees and chipotle are obviously terrible but how about places like capital grille, Del Friscos, Joes stone crab, even Lou malnatis is a chain

I totally agree the rainforest needs to go, but sadly people take their kids there for kicks and its always busy so I highly doubt they go away unless someone offers a lot for their land

also re: that Clybourn corridor building... its huge and I doubt the owners at SoNo don't throw a massive stink about it and get it blocked

Given it's location and orientation eh. I guess a few people might be cranky that their view of traffic, strip malls, and a scrap yard is going to be encroached upon...

Also unless, I'm mistaken, the proposal also sits in a different ward than SoNo. I guess they can complain to Hopkins but if Burnett has the say I can't see it doing much good.

Developers want to build 401 apartments in two new West Loop towers [Curbed]

The article can be summarized in "West Loop developers continue developing" but I wanted to point this paragraph out:

"Both buildings are near public transportation, so they qualify as TOD. That’s why the two towers and their combined 401 units have just 80 parking spaces. McGuire said that seeming low figure might actually be high, based on future estimates. But, if there is a sudden demand for tenant parking, Related Realty can lease out at least 200 of its unused parking spaces inside Landmark West Loop’s 320-car garage."

When will they learn?

They also mention the issue of ubers and amazon deliveries as something to be planned for... I have to agree. Our side street in Bucktown is regularly blocked with 10+ cars backed up due to one amazon delivery van sitting in the street as the driver delivers people's tooth brushes or whatever they are buying with "free to me shipping".
