We're not on the same page here. I've already been saying everything you've just said for years now. Point is, as swimmer will likely point out, you're not going to get a parallel SkyTrain line within 2km of the "old" one; not when many other parts of the region need service too. So by 2050, Fraser's covered, KGB/104th's covered, great... but what about side arterials like 120th or 72nd?
Keep SkyTrain as the RT backbone, absolutely, but at the same time we need to think about upgrading some of the feeder lines to semi-RT (light rail, gondola, self-driving bike, whatever). If there's an old rail route like the interurban along the way, it might not even cost that much to build.
