If I remember correctly, when 50 Allen Plaza was still an active proposal, it was first proposed with one floor count and then altered with a different floor count. I can't remember if it was taller at first or made taller by bullish developers later before it was ultimately cancelled. But I definitely remember lots of conjecture and different heights in renderings floating around. I also remember a clearly doctored rendering of a much taller tower floating around (I think it was shared here already).

Fine. You make a good argument, and I'm starting to believe in your Amazon speculation. Although I'm usually cautious with HQ2 speculation because it's possible that there are similar signs in the other 19 cities.

Here is another huge Data Point

I just found out AT&T has 2 more years left on their lease at 675 West Peachtree. Why go through the cost and effort to consolidate offices when you have two years left on your lease? Better yet, why would you walk away from 1.2 Million sqft lease and not put the full amount of office space on the market to sub-lease? Loopnet is only showing 516K sqft available for lease in a 1.5 million sqft building.

Amazon might be negotiating with AT&T to take over their lease

Activity at Atlantic Yards

Just drove past the Atlantic Yards site, and there is some type of activity/dirt being moved there. Probably a half dozen trucks or other equipment on site, and several large piles of dirt. I haven’t heard anything about an official groundbreaking or LDP. Anybody know if it’s unrelated to the Atlantic Yards development and part of some other project nearby?

The 516K being marketed on Loopnet and CBRE's website is for a regular lease - NOT A SUBLEASE. So it appears Carl Icahn, the building's owner, let AT&T out of their lease.

Carl Icahn is the 22nd wealthiest person in the US and a savvy investor. Care to guess why Carl would let AT&T out of a 1.2 Million sqft lease that had 2 years left?

Well played, Atlanta3000 !
Hoping your dot connections are proven correct.

Imagine the skyline with Amazon's logo atop multiple sides of that building - and/or on other buildings close-by in Midtown (whether existing or proposed) !

This is so awesome. Hines the developer of Atlantic Yards already had financing lined up from Invesco and they start the market is strong enough to go spec on this project.

It may have something to do with this:

Quote:
ATLANTIC STATION BLOCK B RAMP
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RAMP DOWN FROM MARKET STREET TO THE BLOCK B PARKING LEVEL.WILL INCLUDE RETAINING WALL
https://aca3.accela.com/ATLANTA_GA/Cap/C...gencyCode=ATLANTA_GA&IsToShowInspection=

I don't think the permitting is far enough along for there to be groundbreaking of Atlantic Yards.

Opus Place

There are several dump trucks in rotation at the site right now and it appears they continue to dig deeper on the lot. I’m hopeful this is positive movement for the project.

Block B is not the parcel for Atlantic Yards. I heard Hines is marketing Block B for a 19 story office building. Earlier it was rumored Block B was going to be an apartment development.

Bingo. That's likely it, and I figured it was probably something else. Was just curious if anyone knew what. Thanks!

It definitely towers over the building's around it.

How about Amazon Class A building at 8th and West Peachtree (at Midtown Marta station) connecting to Amazon Class B building, the now AT&T Tower ?

Amazon's "North" and South" campus using both 675 West Peachtree (South)and 901 West Peachtree (North) - with Ponce & 3rd (West campus) and/or 1105 West Peachtree (Arts Center station) later in the mix. 1105 could then be North Campus with 8th at West Peachtree (HQ2 Main Campus)

And, oh, imagine Midtown's skyline !

I am wrong about the permitting for Atlantic Yards. Their Land Development permit was issued on July 3, 2018.

The work being done could be related to either the Block B down ramp or Atlantic Yards - or both.

Well, if the ramp is definitely supposed to be in Block B, then this activity is not related to the ramp project because the current construction-related activity is in the Atlantic Yards site (Block C).
