Is Andrew Weaver forcing them to do this? You'd think the NDP would want the work to proceed to create jobs many of which are likely union ones.

here's an idea to get our highways fixed up at a decent pace, without all these delays..

step 1: declare the transcanada highways a national defence asset
step 2: increase defence spending so canada actually meets it's nato obligations
step 3: use this sudden $20 billion a year national highway fund to get some coast to coast freeways going!

Only if the federal government would listen...

Or the spending on everything else takes a dip.

Easy to say, hard to do. Just watch Doug Ford try in Ontario and do lasting damage to the economy there.

Variable speed limits are going to decrease congestion and accidents??? What an absolute joke. This is just some bs being implemented by the cheap NDP government instead is focusing on the real fix which is expanding that section of highway

Trudeau Bills 10-Year Defense Spending Plan

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics...spending-plan-as-answer-to-trump-demand/

Do I see an opportunity to make TCH part of the national defense item?

Defense money should be spent on defense and highway money should be spent on highways. The last thing the Canadian military needs is to have any hypothetical extra money that it probably won't get anyway to be siphoned off onto non military spending.

Yikes the American influence is real. We already lose the battle before it even begins.

Anyway, I think we should go back to talking about BC highways. What's new?

Defense. The origins of the word clearly indicate the use of "s" not "c." There's a reason why it's "defensive" and not "defencive." It's too bad our first PM was an irrational foreigner who saddled the federal government with the use of terms and spelling that were NOT common at the time let alone now. My biggest pet peeve is seeing "instalment" on tax returns. Who in the fuck spells "installment" with only one "l"? No one but federal government bureaucrats.

Back to B.C. highways. They're a joke and the current B.C. government should be ashamed of themselves for cancelling so many projects that were needed years ago. I guess scoring points with Andrew Weaver to stay in power is more important than the safety of drivers and for the nation's economic well-being.

Why do Albertans care about out of province highways so much?
